Ricky Rubio News
Minnesota has traded guard Ricky Rubio to Cleveland. In return, the Timberwolves will acquire Taurean Prince. The Cavaliers will also get a 2022 second-round draft pick and some cash, and it will move Rubio to his fourth team in five years. The 30-year-old averaged only 8.6 points and 6.4 assists throughout 68 games last season. However, he likely has some gas left in the tank and can be a solid contributor if he gets consistent playing time during the 2021-22 campaign.
Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio had one of his better games of the season in Thursday's matchup against the Warriors, finishing a 126-114 win with a team-high 26 points on 7-for-13 shooting. The Spanish veteran was 5-for-8 with the three-ball in his best scoring effort of the season, adding seven points from the foul line with perfect shooting, while collecting six rebounds, six assists and two steals with zero turnovers in 31 minutes. Rubio is the starting point guard for Minnesota, but he's been forced to split time with D'Angelo Russell and it hasn't really suited him. However, Russell was kept quiet on Thursday and played for just 24 minutes, which gave Rubio an opportunity to enjoy a good evening. On paper, the Timberwolves point guards get another good matchup against New Orleans on Saturday.
Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio (back) is listed as doubtful for Monday's game against the Sacramento Kings. D'Angelo Russell (knee) will join Rubio with the doubtful tag for this contest. That means, Jordan McLaughlin could be forced to play heavy minutes. He'd make for a favorable DFS option without Rubio or Russell on the court. Fantasy managers should check back for another update on Monday.
Minnesota Timberwolves forward Malik Beasley (hamstring) and guard Ricky Rubio (back) have been listed as doubtful for Saturday's game against the 76ers. Rubio missed Friday's game as he continues to deal with back spasms, while Beasley could be a candidate for rest on the second half of his team's back-to-back. If both guys are out, Jordan McLaughlin and Jaylen Nowell would both see added minutes, with Anthony Edwards likely to benefit as well.
