Houston Rockets center Justin Patton moved into the starting unit on Sunday against Memphis, likely as a way of combatting the size that the Grizzlies have. He responded with 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting in 26 minutes, plus grabbed five rebounds and blocked two shots. The Rockets are a disaster right now and Patton will lose minutes when Christian Wood returns. But he might have some matchup-dependent DFS deep-value appeal in the near future.
Free-agent center Justin Patton has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Detroit Pistons. The 23-year-old big man has played with three different teams during his three years in the league. He has played a total of nine games in the NBA since being drafted during the first round in 2017. Patton played in five games with the Oklahoma City Thunder this season, but he didn't make much of an impact. He was traded to the Dallas Mavericks and later waived by the team in January. He has the size to be an NBA center, but injuries continue to hold him back. It's unlikely that he provides much fantasy value in Detroit.
Oklahoma City Thunder center Justin Pattonhas been traded to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for forward Isaiah Roby. Patton hasn't see too much action in OKC with Steven Adams and Nerlens Noel ahead of him on the depth chart. Losing Dwight Powell (Achilles) for the season is likely why the Mavs made this move. Dallas adds depth behind Kristaps Porzingis and Maximilian Kleber. Patton isn't expected to have a big role in Dallas, so he belongs on the waiver wire in most formats. Roby will likely spend most of his time in the G-League.
