Malaki Branham News
San Antonio Spurs guard/forward Malaki Branham is looking to build on a solid rookie campaign and improve further in 2023-24. "I don't want to be the same player I was last year," Branham told Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News. "I know there is more room to improve." The 20-year-old averaged 10.2 points during his first year in the league, adding 2.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 23.5 minutes. A significant improvement could come from three-point shooting alone, as Branham hit barely 30 percent from deep in 2022-23 with nearly four attempts per game.
San Antonio Spurs guard Malaki Branham secured 29 points on 12-of-20 shooting from the field with two rebounds, one assist, and one steal in Tuesday's 96-85 win over the Washington Wizards. The 20-year-old went 0-for-2 from the foul line, but sunk 5-of-6 from long range and only gave the ball away one time. Branham vehemently rebounded in this one from a 1-for-18 dud in his last game. The 2022 first-round pick struggled defensively as a rookie, but he continues to display some adept scoring ability. Branham looks to split backcourt minutes off the bench with fellow combo guard Devonte' Graham behind presumptive starters Tre Jones and Devin Vassell next season with the Spurs. Branham profiles as a points-league flier on deep-league radars in upcoming drafts.
San Antonio Spurs guard/forward Malaki Branham led all scorers with a 32-point effort in Wednesday's 109-99 win over the Lakers. This was a very strong showing from the 20-year-old as Branham finished with a 3-for-6 record from deep and shot 12-for-24 overall from the field. He grabbed five rebounds and tallied two assists and one steal. The Ohio State product did well during his rookie campaign, averaging 10.2 points per game, and he'll be hoping to take another step forward in 2023-24. The Summer League offers him a great chance to build up confidence ahead of the new campaign, and we can expect him to have an active role in the team's offense, although the Victor Wembanyama mania is about to start when the Las Vegas tournament tips off on Friday.
San Antonio Spurs guard Malaki Branham (back) has been upgraded to available for Thursday's game against the Indiana Pacers. This is good news after Branham was listed as questionable earlier in the day. The 19-year-old has been starting, but is expected to have a decreased role with Tre Jones and Devin Vassell both healthy. It's worth noting that Vassell is still on a minutes limit, so Branham should still have fantasy value. However, he probably won't have enough value worth looking at in most 12-team formats.
