Rudy Gay Traded To OKC

The Hawks traded forward Rudy Gay, along with TyTy Washington Jr., Usman Garuba, and a second-round pick, to OKC on Saturday in exchange for guard Patty Mills. Gay, who was recently moved from Utah as a part of the deal surrounding John Collins, was never expected to suit up for Atlanta, so the move isn't a surprise. The 36-year-old has averaged 15.8 points since entering the league in 2005. However, his production has significantly declined over the years, so he'll have little-to-no fantasy value heading into 2023-24 and beyond, no matter where he's playing before calling it quits.

Rudy Gay Not Expected To Suit Up For The Hawks

Atlanta Hawks forward Rudy Gay isn't expected to play for the team following his arrival from Utah in the John Collins deal. Lauren Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reported that the Hawks are looking to trade the veteran, and if a favorable move can't be worked out, Atlanta will likely waive Gay. With 17 NBA seasons under his belt, Gay is clearly past his best, and he posted career-low numbers across the board last season. He will be 37 in August and will likely settle for a bench role if another team decides to pick him up, meaning Gay's fantasy appeal is set to remain marginal.

Rudy Gay Questionable For Wednesday's Game

Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (illness) has been listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Grizzlies. The veteran is battling an illness and could be out for only the second time in 2023. Gay is playing a very limited role for the Jazz, averaging fewer than 15 minutes per game, and his absence likely won't affect the team too much. Although with Lauri Markkanen (knee) also possibly out, there would suddenly be a nice chunk of minutes available for others if both players end up sitting out the game. Ochai Agbaji, Talen Horton-Tucker, Simone Fontecchio and Juan Toscano-Anderson are all candidates to pick up more work.

Rudy Gay Out Versus The Nuggets

Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (health and safety protocols) won't play on Friday against the Denver Nuggets. The 36-year-old has averaged only 5.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists this season, so his absence won't mean much for fantasy managers. However, it may indirectly open up some playing time for Collin Sexton, who has logged just 17 minutes per game in 2022-23, giving him a brighter outlook in all formats.

Rudy Gay Uncertain For Sunday

Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Phoenix Suns. The veteran forward hasn't played in nearly a month due to a knee issue and now an illness. Eric Paschall and Danuel House Jr. have been benefiting without Gay on the court. However, they don't see enough minutes to warrant rostering in most fantasy formats. Gay is a decent low-end streaming option when healthy, but he might not play 20-plus minutes anymore. The Jazz roster is getting healthy again, which could mean less minutes for Gay when he does return.

Rudy Gay Uncertain For Meeting With Phoenix

Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (illness) is questionable for the team's upcoming meeting against Phoenix. The veteran is currently dealing with a non-COVID-related sickness, which most recently caused him to miss Friday's showdown versus Dallas. Gay had also missed five games before the All-Star break with a knee issue, so if he can't go on Sunday, his next chance to make it back will come on Wednesday versus the Houston Rockets. Nevertheless, Danuel House Jr. has been getting some extra work during Gay's absence. However, he doesn't have much fantasy upside in any format.

Rudy Gay Unlikely To Play On Friday

Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (illness) is listed as doubtful for Friday's game against the Dallas Mavericks. Gay didn't practice on Thursday and missed time before the All-Star break as well. It's worth noting that Gay was dealing with knee soreness, but that issue appears to be behind him. Despite that, Gay could very well miss the first game out of the break. His absence should mean more minutes for Danuel House Jr. and Eric Paschall. However, neither player is trustworthy enough to bother using as a streaming option on Friday.

Rudy Gay Sits During Thursday's Practice

Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (illness) wasn't able to participate during Thursday's practice. Before the All-Star break, Gay was battling knee soreness. However, there was no mention of that, so it sounds like Gay has recovered from his knee issue. Hopefully, this illness is minor and Gay can suit up for Friday's game against the Dallas Mavericks. Otherwise, Eric Paschall and Danuel House Jr. will be asked to play more minutes. Neither of them are trustworthy enough to roster in standard leagues.

Rudy Gay Won't Play Wednesday

Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. This marks the fifth game in a row that Gay has missed due to right knee soreness. At this point, the Jazz are taking the cautious approach and holding out Gay through the All-Star break. In the meantime, Eric Paschall should see more playing time in the rotation. He scored 12 points in 15 minutes during Monday's contest. He could be worth a look as a streaming option while Gay is sidelined.

Rudy Gay Will Miss Friday’s Contest

Utah Jazz power forward Rudy Gay (knee) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Magic due to a sore right knee. Gay's absence has climbed to three consecutive contests, with his minutes being distributed over the Jazz's usual second unit contributors. Gay, 35, is on pace to play a career-low 20 minutes per game this season, which has led to an average of 8.9 PPG, the only time in his career he has not averaged double figures. Jordan Clarkson and Eric Paschall will continue to hold elevated second unit offensive upside for as long as Gay is sidelined, with his next chance to suit up coming Monday vs. Houston.
