Free-agent forward Thaddeus Young officially agreed to a contract with Phoenix. The 35-year-old was traded to Brooklyn ahead of the deadline but was eventually waived. He has suited up for seven teams throughout his career, most recently averaging 5.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 23 games with Toronto this season. Although those numbers weren't the best for fantasy purposes, Young was much more productive in his six starts. He'll likely get a few chances to roll with the first five while in Phoenix. However, he's not worth much to fantasy managers at the moment, although there could be streaming opportunities at some point moving ahead. Yet, Young's presence could at least mean fewer minutes for guys like Drew Eubanks, Bol Bol, and Royce O'Neale, three players who already need to scratch and claw for playing time.
Toronto Raptors forward Thaddeus Young will move into the starting five ahead of Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. This is a surprising move considering Young has played a total of 34 minutes in eight appearances this season. The Raptors are going to be without Jakob Poeltl (ankle) for at least two weeks. That means, Chris Boucher and apparently Young are going to play bigger roles in the rotation. Young is starting, but Boucher is the much more trustworthy streaming option between the two.
Toronto Raptors forward/center Thaddeus Young (illness) is considered doubtful for Tuesday's meeting with Orlando. The veteran has missed the past two games with an illness and still isn't feeling 100 percent. In his 17th year in the league, Young has mostly taken up a mentorship role on the Raptors team, appearing in only three games and logging just a handful of minutes. His absence doesn't impact fantasy basketball in any way.
Thaddeus Young Questionable On Thursday Versus Pelicans
Toronto Raptors forward Thaddeus Young (knee) is listed as questionable on Thursday due to a left knee sprain. The former lottery pick has seen his minutes fluctuate a lot this season and has taken on a lesser role with Jakob Poeltl entering the mix. Head coach Nick Nurse did say earlier this week that he expected Young to play on Thursday, so managers that might need him should just check back for updates leading up to tipoff. It's not recommended to start Young in any fantasy format right now though.
The Toronto Raptors have decided to start Thaddeus Young Wednesday against the Sacramento Kings. The Raptors seem to have felt Domantas Sabonis would be too much for rookie center Christian Koloko and moved him to the second unit. In eight starts this year, Young has produced 9.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.8 steals in 27.4 minutes per game. With OG Anunoby (hip) out for at least the next week, Young could be a valuable streaming option.
Toronto Raptors forward Thaddeus Young will move into the starting five for Saturday's game against the Indiana Pacers. Head coach Nick Nurse has decided to shake up his lineup with rookie Christian Koloko struggling right now. Young has proven to be fairly productive when he does play. The Raptors could also use Young's boost in offense with Fred VanVleet (illness) on the sideline. Fantasy managers who are looking for a streaming option on Saturday should take a look at Young. He should get a fairly decent amount of playing time.
Toronto Raptors forward Thaddeus Young (thumb) will play during Monday's Game 2 contest against the Philadelphia 76ers. The veteran forward was forced out of action early during Game 1 due to a left thumb issue. It sounds like he'll play through the pain here. He could see more minutes than normal with Scottie Barnes (ankle) sidelined. However, Young is a shaky DFS option and fantasy managers should probably look elsewhere for production.
Toronto Raptors forward Thaddeus Young (thumb) is unlikely to suit up for Game 2 against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday. He was forced to exit early during Game 1 due to a sprained left thumb. The veteran forward will undergo an MRI, so those results should be known later in the day. Fantasy managers should have better information on Sunday night or possibly Monday morning. Chris Boucher and Precious Achiuwa could be asked to pick up the slack, assuming Young misses time.
Toronto Raptors power forward/center Thaddeus Young (illness) has been cleared to suit up for Friday's game against Orlando, getting back in the mix following a one-game absence. Young has averaged 8.5 points and 3.7 boards across 19.1 minutes per outing in six contests since joining the Raptors. His limited playing time off the bench caps his fantasy intrigue, but his presence likely knocks Chris Boucher and Precious Achiuwa from DFS appeal in their own right. Young has scored in double figures in four of his last six appearances, but he has not recorded double-digit shot attempts since Nov. 16 while with San Antonio, a sign of his capped offensive upside.
Toronto Raptors power forward/center Thaddeus Young (illness) has been ruled out for Thursday's contest vs. the Pistons. Young has proven to be a solid bench contributor since arriving in Toronto, averaging 8.5 points and 3.7 boards per game, all while shooting 51.2 percent overall. His absence -- in addition to those of Fred VanVleet (knee) and OG Anunoby (finger) -- likely funnels a larger role toward the frontcourt group of Pascal Siakam, Chris Boucher, and Precious Achiuwa. Young's 6.5 PPG and 15.1 minutes per game averages on the season are on pace for the lowest of his career, likely making him a waiver wire commodity down the stretch of 2021-22.
