Thanasis Antetokounmpo Set To Undergo Surgery For Torn Achilles

Milwaukee Bucks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo has suffered a torn Achilles and is set to undergo surgery, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic. The older brother of multi-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo has just finished his sixth NBA season, averaging 0.9 points across 4.6 minutes of action. He has a total of 198 regular-season games of experience under his belt in the Association. Together with his brother, Antetokounmpo won the NBA championship with the Bucks in 2021.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo To Remain In Milwaukee

Milwaukee Bucks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo exercised his $1.88 million player option on Saturday. The 29-year-old averaged 3.6 points and 2.1 assists throughout 9.9 minutes of work last season. He'll likely continue to play sparingly in 2022-23, potentially getting a few starts here or there. However, he shouldn't offer much for managers and will likely go undrafted in most fantasy leagues heading into October.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo Available For Saturday

Milwaukee Bucks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo (calf) is available for Saturday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. This is good news with the Bucks down a handful of players due to safety protocols. Antetokounmpo was listed as doubtful previously, but appears healthy enough to play on Saturday. That being said, Antetokounmpo and Semi Ojeleye should both find their way into the rotation. Neither of them are fantastic fantasy options, but could have some deep league appeal.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo Will Miss Friday’s Game

Milwaukee Bucks power forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo (leg) has been downgraded to out for Friday's contest against the Pelicans due to a strained right soleus in his leg. Antetokounmpo would likely have been in line for a sizable minutes allotment Friday if healthy, but his absence stands to funnel ample minutes in the direction of Jordan Nwora, DeMarcus Cousinsand Sandro Mamukelashvili. Antetokounmpo has scored in double figures just twice thus far in 2021-22, severely capping any season-long fantasy intrigue. His next chance to return to action comes Saturday vs. Cleveland.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo Doubtful For Friday

Milwaukee Bucks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo (calf) is listed as doubtful for Friday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. He suffered the injury on Wednesday, but played 21 minutes in that contest. He doesn't offer a ton of value, but stood to gain more value with Bobby Portis and Giannis Antetokounmpo sidelined due to protocols. Now, DeMarcus Cousins (personal) could be looking at a heavy workload or Sandro Mamukelashvili will get a legitimate chance in the rotation. Cousins could be a decent streaming option while the Bucks are shorthanded.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo Notches 23 Points Saturday Night

Milwaukee Bucks small forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo led all scorers with 23 points in Saturday's 102-96 loss to the Knicks, shooting 8-for-15 from the field and a really nice 4-for-5 from downtown. He added 10 rebounds for a double-double with five assists and two steals. The Bucks were rolling with their youngsters, with multiple starters -- including Giannis Antetokounmpo -- missing the game. Jordan Nwora also had a double-double in a start with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Giannis and others will surely be fine for Monday's clash with the Clippers, so consider this a one-off thing by Thanasis and company.
