The veteran could miss a second consecutive game after already being unavailable Tuesday versus Miami. Barton made a couple of starts for the Raptors lately when the team was short of healthy bodies, but his role overall has been very marginal in Toronto, as the 32-year-old has averaged only 12.2 minutes per game. Only a few will notice his absence if Barton can't play Friday.

Guard Monte Morris and forward Will Barton are heading to Washington while the Nuggets are receiving guard/forward Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and point guard Ish Smith. Morris could wind up being the most impactful member of this foursome next year. The Wizards didn't have many point guard options prior to this trade and Morris looks to be the favorite to take on starting point guard duties for the team. Last year, he started 74 games for the Nuggets and averaged 12.6 points and 4.4 assists per game.

With Jamal Murray (knee) expected to be back at full strength and the increase in production of Bones Hyland late last season, Barton may be expendable as the organization looks to bolster things on the defensive side of the ball. The 31-year-old averaged 14.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in 2021-22 and has one year remaining on his current contract. He has battled injuries and has yet to play an entire season throughout his tenure in the league. However, while Barton isn't an everyday fantasy producer, he can get it going on occasion.
