NFL Power Rankings Week 7

NFL Power Rankings

Before I get into the power rankings, I want to share my thoughts with all those affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. As a Florida resident, it has been a tough couple of weeks. Thankfully, my family and friends are safe, but that can’t be said for everyone. Please make sure to keep your loved ones close.

I feel like this season is flying by, but it always does. We are entering week 7 and starting to see a much clearer picture of the tiers these NFL teams are falling into. Sure, there are some surprises, but for the most part, this is what we expected to see coming into the season. There isn’t a lot of movement at the polar ends of the power rankings, but the middle will always fluctuate.

There were more teams on byes, which limited their movement, but some teams rose without playing a game this week. This is strictly due to the performance of the teams that did play. As I always say, read on to see where your team ranked. You may be surprised if you are a Bengals or Cowboys fan.

Quick Links

Biggest Riser: San Francisco 49ers (+5), Biggest Faller: Dallas Cowboys (-7)

1. Kansas City Chiefs (1)

The quest for the three-peat remains on track as the Chiefs head into their bye as one of two remaining undefeated teams. Yes, this team has injuries, but every team does. The next-man-up approach has worked thus far, and there is no reason we shouldn’t expect it to continue.

2. Minnesota Vikings (2)

Minnesota had a much-needed bye, but don’t expect this team to slow down. They just traded for some depth at running back with the Texans for Cam Akers and are loading up for bear for the 2nd half of their season. While they have appeared in four Super Bowls, they have yet to win one.

3. Detroit Lions (3)

I mean, what more can you ask for? This team pulled out all the stops and started having fun with the Cowboys. They were throwing passes to offensive tackles and utilizing hook-and-loop moves to non-skill positions. Detroit is just toying with its victims now.

4. Houston Texans (4)

No Nico Collins, no problem. This team will beat you in a myriad of ways. Joe Mixon returned and looked every bit the pro-bowler he did at the beginning of the year. Is it finally time for Houston to appear in and win a Super Bowl?

5. Baltimore Ravens (5)

Remember when we were writing off the Ravens? Yeah, me neither. This team is one of the best in the league and will push for an AFC Championship. The only caveat is that Lamar Jackson has to show he can get over the hump.

6. Washington Commanders (6)

Even though they lost to Baltimore, you can’t fault them and drop them in the rankings. They showed they were a legit threat but just did not have an answer for this team. I’m all in on Washington winning the NFC East and making a playoff run.

7. Green Bay Packers (7)

Christian Watson returning sparked good things for this offense. The 1-2 punch of Jayden Reed and Watson is a matchup nightmare for other teams. And this isn’t even the strength of this team. Green Bay’s defense is relentless.

8. Atlanta Falcons (9)

The Falcons continue to impress as they rise again this week. The matchup was a juicy one for Bijan Robinson and he produced. The frustrating part is Tyler Allgeier is still going to get his touches whether we want him to or not.

9. Buffalo Bills (8)

James Cook missing time means Ray Davis will shine. The rookie running back made a huge statement and should be in line for a bump in touches. Amari Cooper provides a huge boost for this receiving corp.

10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11)

A pummeling of the Saints places the Bucs back in the top-10. Baker Mayfield is playing out of his mind and it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down any time soon. How good is Chris Godwin, too?

11. Pittsburgh Steelers (13)

A stifling defense is one way to win games in this day and age and that’s exactly what the Steelers have. They have allowed 14 points or more in just two games this season. Their offense has scored more than that mark in five of their six games so far. What a team this is.

12. Chicago Bears (14)

Caleb Williams is making a strong comeback in the Rookie of the Year conversation. He’s thrown seven touchdowns to one interception in his last three games. That’s good football.

13. Los Angeles Chargers (15)

Fresh off a bye week, the Los Angeles Chargers just keep on keeping on. Jim Harbuagh has been a revelation for this team and the ground game, but let’s not knock the passing game. Although Justin Herbert has thrown for only 815 yards, he has only one interception.

14. Philadelphia Eagles (16)

Congratulations on beating the Browns. A truly rare feat. Philadelphia fans are BASHING Nick Sirianni online and want the coach gone. Do you agree?

15. San Francisco 49ers (20)

The great thing about having playmakers everywhere is that you never have to worry about not having playmakers. San Francisco can beat you in multiple ways and that was shown this past week.

16. Seattle Seahawks (12)

A hot-start to the season, Seattle has since cooled off losing their last three games. I don’t know what to say about this team. The offense has scored 20 points or more in those games. The defense on the other hand has surrendered 29 points or more in each of those games.

17. Dallas Cowboys (10)

Is there a team falling in a quicker tailspin than Dallas? Sure, they’ve won two of their last three games, but the margin of victory was only 8 total points. The margin of defeat against Detroit was over 4x that number.

18. Cincinnati Bengals (21)

A slight rise for a team that has been unpredictable all season. Cincinnati outlasts New York in a game that should have been more lopsided than it was. Still a win is a win for a team that is in, arguably, the toughest division in the National Football League.

19. New Orleans Saints (17)

A sheer walloping for this team at the hands of the rival Buccaneers, New Orleans finds themselves in a precarious spot. Spencer Rattler earned the starting job, but did he do enough to keep it after a modest showing?

20. Denver Broncos (19)

Bo Nix is growing, but this team is still a world away from contending. Still, it’s nice to see promise from a young quarterback, even if it is miniscule.

21. Los Angeles Rams (26)

A bye week riser, Los Angeles is getting healthy at a pivotal time in the season. Cooper Kupp is returning to practice and others aren’t far behind. Watch out for this team in November.

22. Arizona Cardinals (18)

Marvin Harrison Jr. sustained a concussion and could miss a similar amount of time as Malik Nabers. Trey McBride stock is rising.

23. Indianapolis Colts (24)

The ONLY reason Indianapolis won this game is because they played a flailing Titans team. Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor should be back this week so that brings a boost.

24. New York Jets (22)

Aaron Rodgers gets paired with his buddy from his Green Bay days and now the panic sets in for Garrett Wilson. Can Rodgers and this stagnant sustain two WR1s?

25. New York Giants (23)

The Giants may have lost, but they neutralized Ja’Marr Chase and limited the high-powered Bengals offense. I don’t think Daniel Jones is the answer, but he will suffice for the rest of the year.

26. Miami Dolphins (28)

I might as well copy and paste what I’ve wrote about this team since Tua Tagovailoa was injured. They move up due to poor play from others even on a bye week.

27. Las Vegas Raiders (25)

Davante Adams was traded and the Raiders can start anew for the 12th time this decade. Please just draft a quarterback.

28. Tennessee Titans (27)

All of the hype about Will Levis was misplaced. This offense looks abysmal and the pass catchers are suffering. Buy the Tennessee ground game, though.

29. New England Patriots (29)

Drake Maye looks to be the real deal. He is still a bit raw, but looked every bit the part of a franchise quarterback. He led the team in rushing, too.

30. Cleveland Browns (30)

I’ll say it again for the thousandth time, Deshaun Watson needs to be benched.

31. Carolina Panthers (31)

Was Bryce Young really the problem?

32. Jacksonville Jaguars (32)

Pitiful. Just pitiful. I live in Jacksonville and the people here are restless about this coaching staff.
