Minnesota Vikings running back A.J. Rose Jr. had six carries for 41 yards and two touchdowns versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Regardless of how well he performed in the preseason, there is virtually no chance the rookie will supplant Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison on the depth chart. However, he's made a compelling case to be the RB3 up North. The former Kentucky Wildcat isn't listed on the Vikings' depth chart, with Ameer Abdullah and Kene Nwangwuare still listed ahead of him, but that may change. There's no fantasy appeal in redraft and keeper leagues for Rose while Cook and Mattison continue to block him from getting any consistent playing time, even if one of them gets injured. Still, his successful preseason warrants a pick-up in dynasty leagues, as Rose does appear to have the physical traits necessary to be a workhorse running back.
Minnesota Vikings running back A.J. Rose carried the ball six times for 10 yards in the team's second preseason game against the Colts. One week after Rose garnered attention for rushing for 100 yards, this performance was not as productive. He tied for the team lead in carries from the backfield but teammate Ameer Abdullah fared much better. Rose will need a strong performance in the final preseason game to solidify his roster status.
Minnesota Vikings running back A.J. Rose made some strong strides in the team's first preseason game against the Broncos. Rose showed strong vision and burst en route to 100 rushing yards on 25 carries. The Vikings did not suit up star running back Dalvin Cook and backup Alexander Mattison, opening the door for Rose to make an impression. A roster spot could be viewed as a long shot but Rose should continue to see plenty of preseason action and may have locked up a spot on the team's practice squad.
Minnesota Vikings running back A.J. Rose Jr. carried the ball 25 time for 100 yards and added 18 receiving yards in the Vikings first preseason game of the year against the Broncos. The Kentucky product provided most of the offense on a day when the Vikings passed for only 84 team yards and Rose ran hard between the tackles. He is fighting for the RB3 job behind Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison, both of whom did not suit up for this game. Rose needed a high volume of carries to get to 100 yards but his performance certainly opens up more opportunities heading into the team's next preseason matchup.
