Akrum Wadley News
Tennessee Titans rookie running back Akrum Wadley was not very involved in the team's preseason loss to the Minnesota Vikings, rushing only four times for 16 yards. At one time Wadley seemed to have the inside track for the team's fourth running back position, but his nagging injury over the last couple weeks might have affected his chances. Wadley entered the game after both David Fluellen and Dalyn Dawkins, the latter of which was given a whopping 17 carries. This game appeared to be Dawkins' audition to the coaching staff, and he did not disappoint. Wadley seems to be behind Dawkins going into the final roster cuts on Saturday, but his edge in the passing game and special teams might be enough to convince the Titans to retain him.
Tennessee Titans rookie running back Akrum Wadley looked solid in his debut last week, aside from the fumble. However, he will need to build off of that performance this week in order to keep pace with David Fluellen in the race for the team's number three running back spot. Wadley likely outmatches Fluellen when it comes to skill in the open field and receiving, but his struggles with pass blocking could be too much to overcome. Look for Wadley to get a little longer look this week as he hopes to improve on his week one performance of 102 all-purpose yards.
Tennessee Titans rookie running back Akrum Wadley has been challenging David Fluellen for the No. 3 running back job in training camp. The rookie has shown good hands, good footwork and good speed. The undrafted free agent led the team in carries (nine) and rushing yards (27) in last week's preseason game against the Packers. Wadley also returned a kickoff 64 yards, although he also fumbled taking a handoff. Which player proves more valuable on special teams could make the difference in the end. Fluellen has also impressed head coach Mike Vrabel on special teams. Derrick Henry and Dion Lewis are the clear top two backs in this offense, and there won't be much work behind them. Wadley is only worth monitoring in dynasty leagues for now.
