The New York Jets waived wide receiver Ardarius Stewart on Wednesday. Stewart is coming off a two-game suspension. The third-round pick in 2017 had five catches and 41 yards in the preseason and brought down six catches for 82 yards in 15 games last season. He can continue being avoided in fantasy and might struggle to find another job.
New York Jets wide receiver Ardarius Stewart has been suspended two games by the league for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs, according to sources. He tested positive for a diuretic or masking agent. As a rookie last year, Stewart had just six catches for 82 yards in 15 games. In a crowded Jets receiving room, Stewart is definitely in danger of being cut now.
ESPN New York's Rich Cimini believes New York Jets wide receiver Ardarius Stewart is safe for a roster spot in training camp, as the team could keep up to six wide receivers. Stewart is currently buried on the depth chart behind Quincy Enunwa, Robby Anderson, Jermaine Kearse and Terrelle Pryor and has been outplayed in offseason workouts by Chad Hansen. He caught six passes for 82 yards in 15 games in his rookie season. Stewart is well off the fantasy radar.
New York Jets wide receiver Ardarius Stewart hasn't shown much progress in organized team activities and is now behind Chad Hansen on the depth chart. Stewart had just six catches for 82 yards in his rookie season and is behind the eight ball with Quincy Enunwa returning and Terrelle Pryor added to the fold in the offseason. The 24-year-old will have to show more in training camp to keep his roster spot.
Jets Rookie ArDarius Stewart Lights It Up On Saturday
The New York Jets don't figure to have many fantasy surprises coming out of their dreadful offense this season, but we may have just seen a glimpse of one on Saturday night. Against the New York Giants, rookie ArDarius Stewart was perhaps Gang Green's best player. Stewart caught five passes for 82 yards (16.4 yards-per-reception) with two touchdowns on six targets. We're just as surprised as you a Jets receiver did that. A third round pick out of Alabama this year, though, Stewart is a very talented player who, on just about any other team, would be labeled as a rookie receiver to watch. If Josh McCown gets the Jets' starting quarterback job, as expected, Stewart may very well come into fantasy value early this season with very few other threats on the team.
ArDarius Stewart The “Most Likely Jets Rookie” To Contribute
Overall, the New York Jets are a very young, inexperienced team that is likely looking at a long season. As such, any contributions they can get from their younger players this year should be viewed as a step forward in a year where there won't be much else to root for. According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, Jets brass view rookie wide receiver ArDarius Stewart as the most likely rookie to contribute. Stewart is a third round pick out of Alabama who should have every opportunity to make himself valuable with top receiver Quincy Enunwa done for the year with a neck injury and the now de facto number one, Robby Anderson, struggling in camp thus far. Stewart is definitely a name to watch.
New York Jets rookie wide receiver ArDarius Stewart underwent thumb and groin surgeries within the last two weeks but is expected to be ready for training camp, according to head coach Todd Bowles. While Stewart will be back in action next month, it's bad news that he's missing valuable development repetitions as a rookie in an offense in which he's expected to be the third wideout after Eric Decker was released. Despite having a good opportunity to contribute right away, Stewart faces an uphill battle for fantasy relevance and has limited upside with Josh McCown running the show.
