Chicago Bears running back Artavis Pierce could be among the team's roster cuts Tuesday afternoon. Pierce got his preseason off to a strong start with a 45-yard run in the first exhibition game. But Pierce's snap-count has dissipated over the past few weeks and played only 13 snaps Saturday against the Titans. The Bears will certainly keep David Montgomery, Damien Williams, Tarik Cohen (currently on the PUP) and rookie Khalil Herbert. That leaves the final running back spot to Pierce or Ryan Nall and the Bears may keep Nall due to his ability to play special teams.
Artavis Pierce Busts Off Strong Run Against Dolphins
Chicago Bears running back Artavis Pierce carried the ball five times for 50 yards in the team's preseason game against the Dolphins. Pierce did not see the field until the fourth quarter but immediately made an impact, ripping off a 51-yard run. The rest of his carries were nothing to write home about but his run was the biggest play of the day for both teams. Pierce is on the bubble amongst a running backs room that includes David Montgomery, Damien Williams, Tarik Cohen and rookie Khalil Herbert. Pierce will need more runs like that to make a strong case that he deserves a roster spot.
