NFL veteran center and former Cincinnati Bengals first-round pick Billy Price has announced his retirement, according to NFL.com. The 29-year-old cites health risks stemming from a recently discovered blood clot as the reason he is hanging up his cleats after six NFL seasons. "On April 24th I had emergency pulmonary embolism surgery to remove a saddle clot that was entering both of my lungs. As a healthy 29-year-old, an unprovoked pulmonary embolism with no further medical explanation is terrifying. I am truly thankful to be alive today," Price wrote on Instagram. "Unfortunately, I will be retiring from the NFL as the risk of an internal bleed while on blood thinners creates tremendous risk." Price played in 69 games (45 starts) for the Bengals, New York Giants, and Arizona Cardinals after a stellar collegiate career at Ohio State.
The New Orleans Saints terminated center Billy Price's (undisclosed) contract with a Non-Football Injury designation on Thursday and also placed tight end Miller Forristall on the Physically Unable to Perform list, according to executive vice president/general manager Mickey Loomis. The 28-year-old Price made 11 starts for the Arizona Cardinals last year. He was originally a first-round selection by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2018 out of Ohio State, and he spent the first three seasons of his NFL career with the Bengals before playing for the New York Giants in 2021 and the Cardinals last year. Price will likely need to get past his current undisclosed injury before another team will give him a contract.
The New Orleans Saints signed free-agent center Billy Price to an undisclosed deal on Thursday. Price will head to the Big Easy after making 11 starts in 2022 with the Arizona Cardinals. The former first-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2018 out of Ohio State will provide depth at the pivot behind Erik McCoy, who has missed nine games due to injuries in the last two seasons. The 29-year-old hasn't exactly lived up to his high draft pedigree, but he brings plenty of experience to the Saints offensive line after having played in 69 games (45 starts) for the Bengals, New York Giants and Cardinals in the last five years.
The New York Giants are shifting around their offensive line and will have newly acquired offensive lineman Billy Price start at center on Thursday night against the Washington Football Team. Price was traded from the Cincinnati Bengals at the end of last month after the former first-rounder only started in nine games in his first two NFL seasons. But the 26-year-old is getting another chance with the G-Men early in the 2021 season. The Giants offensive line was one of the worst units in the league last year, and they didn't get off to a great start in the Week 1 loss to the Denver Broncos. Hopefully for the Giants offense, quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley, Price's move to the starting unit pays off.
Cincinnati Bengals rookie center Billy Price (foot) is dealing with a foot injury that isn't a Lisfranc injury. However, he's in a walking boot and will be re-evaluated in two weeks. Price hadn't been very effective in his first two career games, so this might not wind up hurting Cincinnati too much. Expect Trey Hopkins to step in with Price out.
According to his own Twitter account, Cincinnati Bengals rookie center Billy Price (pectoral) has been fully cleared to participate. Of course, the team is on summer break until late July, so it will be a while until Price is back in team drills. Price is expected to be the team's starting center next season and should boost both the running game and the passing attack for Cincinnati.
The Cincinnati Bengals selected Ohio State center Billy Price at No. 21 overall in the 2018 NFL draft. Price will stay in state. It was a big area of need for the Bengals, and Price can play both center and guard, although it is probably a bit of a reach. Cincy was a weak overall rushing offense last year, mainly because their offensive line was spotty and inconsistent. This is good news for running back Joe Mixon, who could be looking at a breakout in 2018.
