Charles Sims News
Despite his recent exit from the Buccaneers, running back Charles Sims could return to the team in the coming weeks. The former 2014 third-round pick was waived by the Buccaneers Thursday and will be eligible to return three games after the number of games he was paid for. While this scenario may be unlikely, it leaves the door open for a reunion between the two if it so suits them. Tampa Bay may be in need of a third-down back come mid-season if Jacquizz Rodgers loses a step or Ronald Joens II cannot fulfill the role.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released running back Charles Sims (knee) with an injury settlement on Thursday. Sims was ruled out for the season when he was placed on Injured Reserve last week. Peyton Barber will enter the year as the team's lead back and is the one to own for fantasy owners, although promising rookie Ronald Jones II will be more involved as the season wears on and has the highest ceiling in this backfield. Jacquizz Rodgers is an option to mix in on third downs.
Buccaneers running back Charles Sims (knee) is out for the season. Sims was placed on injured reserve Thursday after suffering a knee injury deemed minor after the Bucs' second preseason game. With Sims down, the third-down role will need to be filled by either Jacquizz Rodgers or Peyton Barber. The upper-hand likely goes to Barber as of now due to his strong showing this preseason. Rookie tailback Ronald Jones II could still vie for a major role in the running back committee, however, he is going to have to show a lot more in the coming weeks. Jones II has been mostly unimpressive with the ball in his hands and has been usurped by Barber for the starting role.
