Jets Have Big Plans For Chris Herndon

The New York Jets "can't wait to unleash Chris Herndon" in 2020, according to The Athletic's Connor Hughes. Herndon had an impressive 39 catches for 502 yards and four touchdowns in 16 games (12 starts) in his rookie season in 2018, but he played in just one game last year because of injuries and was held to just one catch. The Jets seriously need Herndon to step up in his third year, especially since the team's receiving room leaves a lot to be desired with Breshad Perriman and Jamison Crowder as the top two pass-catchers. The 24-year-old Herndon should be a safety blanket for quarterback Sam Darnold and could surprise many if he stays healthy. He's a solid upside pick as a TE2 late in drafts.

Chris Herndon IV Placed On IR

New York Jets tight end Chris Herndon (hamstring) has been placed on injured reserve and will miss the remainder of the 2019 season. Herndon, who missed the first four games of the season due to suspension, was only active for two games this season and only played in one due to a nagging hamstring injury. Now his season is over after making one catch for seven yards in one game played. Herndon is droppable in all redraft formats but showed flashes last season, making him an interesting buy-low in dynasty leagues.

Chris Herndon IV Has One Catch In Season Debut

New York Jets tight end Chris Herndon IV made one catch for seven yards in his season debut vs the Giants. Well that was a letdown for fantasy owners that were holding onto the sophomore tight end waiting for him to return to game action after a four-game suspension and a subsequent hamstring injury. Herndon only saw two targets from Sam Darnold and was still coming off the field at times for Ryan Griffin who had been starting in Herndon's absence. Herndon is worth holding onto in deeper leagues on the chance he gets more involved down the stretch, but he is by no means must-own in fantasy at this point.
