The Arizona Cardinals are signing former Tennessee Titans seventh-round quarterback Cole McDonald to a reserve/futures contract on Thursday, according to a source. McDonald will give the Cardinals more depth at the QB position after the Titans released him in training camp. The 22-year-old was a two-year starter at Hawaii and racked up 7,454 passing yards and 65 touchdowns in college. He also ran for 901 yards and 11 touchdowns at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds. The Cardinals currently have Chris Streveler and Brett Hundley behind starter Kyler Murray at the position. McDonald has yet to play a down in a regular season NFL game and he'll be purely depth for the Cardinals under center.
With the 224th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans drafted Hawaii quarterback Cole McDonald. The Titans were always a candidate to add a quarterback this offseason, as the only backup on the roster behind Ryan Tannehill is Logan Woodside. McDonald threw for 4,135 yards and 33 touchdowns as a junior before declaring early for the draft, but his 14 interceptions are worrisome. Still, the battle for the No. 2 role here is wide open, and McDonald has the arm strength and athleticism to stick with the Titans.
