Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars have officially ruled safety Darnell Savage (quadriceps) out for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans. Head coach Doug Pederson had indicated earlier this week that Savage would be back on the field after missing the last two contests due to a quadriceps injury. However, it appears he hasn't fully recovered, resulting in his third consecutive game on the sidelines. Savage made an impact in his only game of the season against the Miami Dolphins in Week 1, playing 49 defensive snaps and recording two passes defensed, including a crucial stop on a fourth-down conversion attempt. In Savage's absence, Antonio Johnson is expected to see increased playing time in Jacksonville's first-team secondary. The Jaguars' defense is already thin, with Foyesade Oluokun also placed on IR, which could boost the Texans' offense this week.

Jaguars Sign Darnell Savage To Three-Year Deal
The Jacksonville Jaguars signed former Green Bay Packers safety Darnell Savage to an undisclosed three-year deal on Monday, according to sources. Savage, a first-round selection (21st overall) by the Packers in 2019 out of Maryland, played in a career-low 10 games due to injuries and 2023 and finished with 51 tackles (36 solo) and just one pass defensed. The 26-year-old looked better at the start of his career with Green Bay than he has recently, but he'll still give Jacksonville's secondary an upgrade at the safety position moving forward. Savage lost his starting job with the Packers last season, but he'll have a new opportunity to earn a starting role in the defensive backfield with a change of scenery. Obviously, Savage is off the IDP fantasy radar for now.

Darnell Savage Won't Play In Week 16
Green Bay Packers safety Darnell Savage (shoulder) has officially been ruled out for Week 16 versus the Carolina Panthers. He was sidelined during practice earlier this week and hasn't made enough progress heading into the weekend. Rudy Ford should step up as Green Bay's top free safety with Savage sidelined. Last week, Ford played 62 percent of defensive snaps and registered eight tackles.

Darnell Savage Activated From Injured Reserve
Green Bay Packers safety Darnell Savage (calf) has been activated from the injured reserve ahead of the Week 13 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Savage has been out since Week 7 after he suffered a calf strain. His return is good news for the Packers defensive unit heading into this tough matchup. The expectation is that Savage will resume his normal role on defense and won't be limited during Sunday's game.

Darnell Savage To Be Placed On Injured Reserve
Green Bay Packers safety Darnell Savage (calf) will be placed on Injured Reserve after suffering a calf injury in the Week 7 loss to the Denver Broncos. Savage has played in all six games this season, posting 22 solo tackles and 12 assisted tackles. Jaire Alexander (back) and Eric Stokes (hamstring) are also dealing with injuries, so Green Bay may have to rely on backup defensive backs moving forward. This does not bode well for a Packers team that is trending in the wrong direction after a 2-1 start to the 2023 season. In the absence of Savage, Jonathan Owens should see more playing time.

Darnell Savage To Miss Multiple Games
Green Bay Packers safety Darnell Savage (calf) will miss multiple games after aggravating his calf injury in the Week 7 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday, according to a source. Savage first sustained the injury in the Oct. 9 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. He left in the second quarter and could wind up on Injured Reserve, which would keep him out at least four games. The Packers also lost defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt (knee) and cornerback Eric Stokes (hamstring) in the loss to the Broncos. Green Bay was already without cornerback Jaire Alexander (back) and linebacker De'Vondre Campbell (ankle). Their defense could be pretty short-handed for a Week 8 divisional clash at home this Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

Darnell Savage Suffers Hamstring Injury
Green Bay Packers starting safety Darnell Savage (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury during the team's traditional "Family Night" practice at Lambeau Field on Friday. The former first-round pick in 2019 said he doesn't "think it's a concern." "It's a fast-people injury. Some of those things you can't avoid. I'll just handle it the right way and listen to those guys back there and I'll be all right." The 25-year-old finished his third NFL season in 2021 with 63 tackles (48 solo), two interceptions and nine passes defensed in 17 regular season starts. The Packers defense is a strong suit for them heading into the 2022 season, and they might have their best defensive unit since they won the Super Bowl in 2010.

Darnell Savage, Dennis Kelly Put On COVID-19 List
The Green Bay Packers added starting safety Darnell Savage and offensive tackle Dennis Kelly to the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday. Savage, who is in his third year with the Packers, has two interceptions, 58 tackles (44 solo) and nine passes defensed in 16 games played this year. Kelly made his third straight start in the Week 17 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night after missing time with an injury earlier in the year. In all, Kelly has played in nine games this season. The Packers are already locked into the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC and will have a first-round bye in the playoffs, so they're likely to rest most of their starters this Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Savage and Kelly should be back for the team's first playoff game.

Packers Trade Up And Take Darnell Savage
The Green Bay Packers traded up with the Seahawks and selected Maryland safety Darnell Savage with the No. 21 overall pick of the 2019 NFL draft. It's Green Bay's second pick of the first round on Thursday night. Savage is extremely versatile and had seven interceptions the last two years with excellent ball skills in the secondary. He's also a good tackler, has great range and can also cover receivers in the slot. Savage will be a Swiss Army knife for Green Bay's secondary in 2019 and beyond.
