Darrian Beavers Could Push For Serious Playing Time
New York Giants second-year inside linebacker Darrian Beavers could replace Jarrad Davis, who will miss prolonged action after having knee surgery. Beavers was pushing for serious playing time in his rookie year in 2022 before suffering an ACL injury late in the preseason, and he was one of the team's biggest surprises of training camp last year. The former on-ball defender dropped to the sixth round because personnel sources said he was playing out of position. The Giants were smart to move him to a pure linebacker position to take advantage of his size at 6-foot-4, 255 pounds. The 24-year-old will be making his NFL debut when he gets into a game in 2023.
Darrian Beavers Sustains Torn ACL, Will Miss 2022 Season
New York Giants linebacker Darrian Beavers (knee) will miss the entirety of his rookie year after having sustained a torn ACL during Sunday's preseason win over the Bengals. Beavers was chosen in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of the University of Cincinnati, where he was a First-team All-AAC selection last year. The 23-year-old was expected to add depth to the team's linebacker position, a group that includes Blake Martinez and Tae Crowder. New York's rookie class alone took a significant blow in its second preseason game, as Kayvon Thibodeaux (knee) will be on the shelf for 3-4 weeks with an MCL sprain, while offensive lineman Marcus McKethan (knee) endured a torn ACL of his own. The Giants' defense is firmly on the outside looking in of fantasy consideration in all formats this year.
