Wideout Daurice Fountain Impresses With First-Team Reps
Detroit Lions wide receiver Daurice Fountain has played in just eight games since entering the NFL in 2018 as a fifth-round pick out of Northern Iowa. He has just two receptions for 23 yards on his resume. However, the 28-year-old got first-team reps last week while third-year wideout Jameson Williams was out of action, and he made the most of his opportunities. "Fountain was one of the standouts of June's minicamp and the lanky wideout has kept the momentum into July," Jeff Risdon of the Lions Wire wrote. "When Jameson Williams wasn't practicing on Friday, Fountain stepped into some of Jamo's first-team reps and played well. His blocking and attention to detail on his routes both received audible praise from WR coach Antwan Randle El." Risdon noted that Fountain didn't have a great day on the first day of pads, but this is still noteworthy considering Fountain is largely unknown. While it would be a surprise if he's on the fantasy football radar in 2024, the team is thin at wide receiver behind superstar Amon-Ra St. Brown and the unproven Williams. He's not worth drafting in leagues of all shapes and sizes right now, but he is worth monitoring as training camp progresses.
Chicago Bears wide receiver Daurice Fountain led the team in receiving and got into the endzone in Saturday's preseason loss against the Indianapolis Colts. The 27-year-old hauled in five catches on six targets for 86 receiving yards, including a 35-yard jump ball touchdown from Nathan Peterman in the fourth quarter. Despite this dominant performance, several receivers are currently ahead of Fountain on the depth chart. While it will be challenging for Fountain to get a spot on the 53-man roster, he is still someone to watch regardless of the outcome.
Daurice Fountain Added To Active Roster For Week 1
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Daurice Fountain has been elevated to the active roster ahead of the Week 1 clash against Arizona. The team is set at the position. However, if Fountain plays, he should spend most of his time on special teams, making him irrelevant for fantasy purposes.
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Daurice Fountain (ankle) went down with a scary leg injury on Thursday afternoon. It was announced later in the day that he would be getting surgery to repair the dislocated and fractured ankle. Fountain was more of a target in deeper leagues, but he had some big-play upside thanks to his size and athleticism. This does open the door for other receivers in that area of the depth chart like Deon Cain, Chester Rogers and Parris Campbell.
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Daurice Fountain is scrapping for a roster spot behind the team's leading wideouts. During Thursday's preseason game, he made a strong case for himself. He led the team with seven targets, and he finished with five catches for 63 yards. At 6'2" and 210 pounds, he has a good amount of size with impressive explosiveness that makes him a good flier at the end of the bench. In a scrap with fellow wideouts Krishawn Hogan and Deon Cain for a roster spot, games like this will help him out.
