NFL veteran quarterback Davis Webb, who spent last year backing up Daniel Jones with the New York Giants, is being hired as the Denver Broncos' quarterbacks coach, according to sources. The 28-year-old will now be coaching the 34-year-old Russell Wilson in his first NFL coaching job. Webb was offered a coaching job with the Buffalo Bills last offseason but turned it down. Before joining head coach Brian Daboll in New York, Webb spent the previous three seasons as a backup for the Buffalo Bills, where Daboll was the offensive coordinator. Jones praised Webb as a great help to him in 2022, which was the best season of Jones' career. Webb attempted his first 40 passes in a start for the G-Men in 2022 and threw for 168 yards in one touchdown. Hopefully, he'll have a positive impact on Wilson after he struggled mightily in his first year in Denver.
New York Giants backup quarterback Davis Webb, who was offered the Buffalo Bills' quarterbacks coach job last offseason, has shown interest in starting the transition from player to coach. Webb will consider making the jump to coaching for the right opportunity after getting his first NFL start in 2022. The 28-year-old was taken in the third round of the 2017 draft out of Cal by the Giants, but he has played in only two career games in two NFL seasons with the Bills and Giants. In his only NFL start in a meaningless Week 18 game for the Giants, Webb went 23-for-40 for 168 yards and a touchdown and also carried the ball six times for 41 yards and another score. If he moves to coaching in 2023, the Giants will need to find some additional QB depth.
New York Giants quarterback Davis Webb completed 23 of his 40 attempts for 168 yards and a touchdown while he also rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Webb made the start at quarterback for the Giants with New York electing to rest its starters ahead of the playoffs. Even though he didn't have much success through the air, the former third-round pick had a solid outing in relief of Daniel Jones. After making a spot start in Week 18, Webb will likely go back to being the No. 3 quarterback on the depth chart in the Wild Card game against the Minnesota Vikings.
New York Giants quarterback Davis Webb has officially been named the starter for the Week 18 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. The former third-round pick from 2017 will be making his first career start. In fact, Webb has not thrown a pass in the NFL yet. He'll get a chance to show what he can do, but has been put in a tough spot. The Eagles defense is above average and the Giants are resting a majority of their starters. There is no point for the Giants to use their starters with the sixth-seed already locked up. That being said, Webb is likely to struggle, so stay away from him in fantasy formats.
New York Giants quarterback Davis Webb is expected to make the start against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 18. The former third-round pick from 2017 is set to throw his first pass of his NFL career. The Giants are resting their primary starters with the sixth-seed already locked up. This is a tough spot for Webb against the tough Eagles defense and without most the Giants starting offensive starters. That being said, there is no reason to start Webb in any fantasy formats this week.
New York Giants quarterback Davis Webb completed 30 of his 38 pass attempts for 202 yards and one touchdown in Sunday's preseason loss to the New York Jets. The former third-round pick is the No. 3 quarterback on the Giants behind Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor. Taylor exited Sunday's preseason finale with a back injury, which is why Webb played nearly three quarters. Depending on Taylor's status entering Week 1, the California product is expected to be the third-string quarterback or he could be signed to the team's practice squad. Webb has yet to throw a single pass in the regular season since being taken by the Giants in the 2017 NFL draft, so he doesn't bring any value in fantasy football.
Davis Webb Puts Together Impressive Performance In Preseason Victory
New York Giants quarterback Davis Webb threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns while completing 22 of his 27 passing attempts in Sunday's preseason win over the Cincinnati Bengals. The former third-round pick led two touchdowns drives on his final two drives of the game to give the Giants the win at home. The California product is the No. 3 quarterback on New York's depth chart, putting him behind Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor. If the Giants choose not to keep three quarterbacks on their 53-man roster, Webb could be auditioning for other teams to sign him for the upcoming season. There doesn't seem to be any indication that Webb could unseat Taylor as the immediate backup to Jones, so he's devoid of any fantasy value in 2022.
Davis Webb Returns To Giants On Reserve/Futures Deal
Quarterback Davis Webb has inked a reserve/futures contract to return to the organization that selected him in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Webb appeared in an NFL game for the first time this season, taking four snaps as a member of the Bills, but not throwing a pass. The Giants are expected to have Daniel Jones serve as their starter entering '22, as Webb will compete with Jake Fromm for backup duties. Webb will already have a supporter in the building in the form of new Giants head coach Brian Daboll, who served as Buffalo's offensive coordinator from '18-21. Whether or not Daboll is able to reinvigorate Jones and the New York offense remains to be seen, but they'll be one of the more captivating storylines heading into next season.
The New York Giants have decided to bring their former third-round pick back home. The organization has reportedly signed quarterback Davis Webb, who they selected in the 2017 NFL draft. He has spent each of the last three seasons bouncing around between the Bills active roster and practice squad. The 27-year-old has never attempted a pass during a regular season game. However, the Giants are seeking upgrades after seeing what Mike Glennon and Jake Fromm brought to the table in 2021. Webb doesn't appear to be a huge upgrade to this roster, but hopefully Daniel Jones can stay healthy in 2022.
The New York Jets signed free-agent quarterback Davis Webb to their practice squad on Tuesday, releasing quarterback John Wolford in a corresponding move. The former third-round pick was surprisingly cut by the Giants over the weekend. He's merely a stash in the deepest of dynasty leagues.
