The Arizona Cardinals signed former Chargers wide receiver Dylan Cantrell to an undisclosed deal on Monday. Cantrell played for Arizona head coach Kliff Kingsbury at Texas Tech, and it sounds as though he might move to tight end with his new team. Cantrell was 6-foot-3, 226 pounds coming out of college and will be a developmental player for the Cardinals. Turning 26 this month, Cantrell has never played in a regular season game at the NFL level and will have a big mountain to climb in Arizona in order to change that, but he brings size and athleticism to a roster that already has a ton of playmakers in the passing game.
Los Angeles Chargers sixth-round pick Dylan Cantrell is lobbying hard for a backup wide receiver role with the team. The 6'4" wideout from Texas Tech has been showing out throughout practice, and he's been taking the Chargers defensive backs to task in the early going. There's still plenty of time to go through the preseason, but he's looking like an early favorite to end up on the back end of the depth chart. While someone buried in a depth chart isn't necessarily too exciting, the Chargers expected starters are Keenan Allen, Tyrell Williams, and Mike Williams. Most fantasy owners should recognize those names from many an injury report. If Cantrell can make the cut, it wouldn't be surprising if he sees a considerable amount of field time.
