Eli Manning To Announce Retirement Friday

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning will hold a news conference on Friday to announce his retirement, according to sources. The writing has been on the wall for Manning after the Giants replaced him with rookie Daniel Jones during the 2019 season. The 39-year-old former first overall pick played in just four games for the G-Men in his 16th and final NFL season. Manning will finish his career with a 60.3 completion percentage, 57,023 passing yards, 366 touchdowns and 244 interceptions. He'll best be known for besting Tom Brady and the Patriots twice in the Super Bowl. Manning's best season came in 2011 when he threw for 4,933 yards, 29 TDs and 16 picks.

Eli Manning Likely To Retire

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning will likely retire at the end of this season rather than hold the clipboard again for Daniel Jones. If Manning wants to continue playing, he'll have to do so with another team in 2020, as he's set to become a free agent after this season. If this is indeed the end of the line for the first overall pick of the 2004 draft, the younger Manning will end his storied career with 57,023 yards on a 60.3 completion percentage with 366 touchdowns and 244 interceptions in the regular season. He'll be best known for defeating Tom Brady and the Patriots twice in the Super Bowl. Manning had a nice send-off with the Giants on Dec. 15 against the Dolphins by throwing for 283 yards and two touchdowns in the 36-20 home win.

Eli Manning Has Ugly But Productive Day

It wasn't pretty, but New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning helped his team, and fantasy teams, on Sunday in a win over the Dolphins. The veteran completed 20 of 28 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns, but he did also throw three interceptions. Bottom line is that he took advantage of the opportunities that were there for him and kept the Giants offense moving. If Daniel Jones (ankle) isn't able to return next week, Manning would get another start against a vulnerable Redskins Defense.

Eli Manning A Deep League Streamer This Week

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning will get one more chance to prove his value on Sunday. Daniel Jones (ankle) is not expected to play, which means Manning gets a prime matchup against a Dolphins Defense that ranks 27th in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. Manning didn't look great on Monday; he remains relatively immobile and can't buy time in the pocket, but the Dolphins don't generate a lot of pressure, and Manning showed a good rapport with his young receivers. With this likely a close game, Manning should have to keep throwing and could provide value in a 14 team leagues or perhaps in DFS tournament lineups.

Eli Manning Likely To Make Another Start

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is likely to make his second straight start in Week 15 against the Dolphins despite rookie Daniel Jones (ankle) returning to a limited practice on Wednesday, according to a team official. It could be the 38-year-old Manning's final home start for the G-Men. The decision will ultimately be head coach Pat Shurmur's, but the Giants will be cautious with Jones. Jones insisted he's improving and is pushing to play, but he's just hoping he can play in one of the final three games of the season. Manning was 15-for-30 for 203 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the overtime loss to the Eagles on Monday night. Even in a juicy matchup with Miami, Manning would be a low-end QB2 for fantasy if he starts again.

Eli Manning Fades As Giants Blow Early Lead

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning had some magic working early in his first game back in the starting lineup since Week 3, delivering two touchdown passes to Darius Slayton, but the potion wore off as the rain picked up and the Giants collapsed on primetime TV. After his hot start, Manning remained inaccurate and immobile in the pocket. He finished with 15 completions on 30 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns. The stats will look fine, but this Giants team is unquestionably better with Daniel Jones under center, and the expectation should be that Jones takes the job back next week against the Dolphins if his ankle heals up.

Saquon Barkley Better With Eli Manning

New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley figures to see a boost playing alongside former, and new, starter Eli Manning. It's not because Manning will make the Giants offense more effective, but because he's essentially a statue in the pocket. The Eagles run defense is 9th in PPR-points allowed to running backs, so Barkley isn't likely to carve them up on the ground, but Manning's lack of mobility has historically lead to more dump-off passes to running backs. While Daniel Jones would use his legs to create yardage, Manning will likely use Saquon Barkley more. Barkley's lack of receiving game usage has lowered his fantasy ceiling, but its return may now bump up his fantasy floor. You're starting him in season-long leagues, and he might be a sneaky captain for DFS tournaments in a showdown slate with the Giants figuring to be trailing often in this game.

Eli Manning Returns In Primetime Matchup

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning will likely be under center when the Giants take on the Eagles on Monday night. Manning was not particularly good when he played early in the season and lacks Daniel Jones' mobility. He's also playing against an Eagles team looking to make up for an embarrassing loss to the Dolphins and still fighting for the playoffs after the Cowboys loss on Thursday. All logic suggests that Manning will not be fantasy relevant. However, a fading star given one last chance against a rival on primetime TV has all the makings of fantasy and Hollywood drama, so Eli could simply torch the Eagles' suspect secondary. He's not a recommended play in one QB leagues or DFS cash games, but if you wanted to throw him in a GPP lineup or slide him into the starting spot in a two-quarterback league, it might be a fun night.

Giants Decline To Name Eli Manning The Week 3 Starter

New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur declined to name quarterback Eli Manning the starter for Week 3 against the Buccaneers. Manning went 26-for-45 (57.8 percent) for 250 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the Week 2 loss against a tough Bills Defense. To be fair, Manning was without Sterling Shepard (concussion) and lost Cody Latimer to a concussion during the game. He was forced to work with Bennie Fowler, Russell Shepard and T.J. Jones in the passing game. The 38-year-old signal-caller is near the end, but it's hard for him to be productive when those are his options to throw to. If the G-Men turn to rookie Daniel Jones, it might be more of the same or worse. Getting Sterling Shepard back will help -- and eventually Golden Tate from his suspension -- but Jones would be nothing more than a low-end QB2 in two-QB leagues if he's thrust into the starting role.

Eli Manning Ineffective Versus Bills

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning struggled against the Bills on Sunday, finishing with 250 yards passing, one TD and two interceptions. Manning threw a handful of beautiful passes, including the touchdown to T.J. Jones, but he also made some awful throws and was unable to move the offense consistently. The veteran quarterback might be more effective when Sterling Shepard is healthy and Golden Tate comes back from his suspension, but he's unlikely to be fantasy viable until then.
