The Atlanta Falcons released veteran wide receivers Auden Tate and Geronimo Allison on Tuesday. Neither receiver was able to take advantage of the team's lack of receiver depth in training camp this year behind rookie first-rounder Drake London. They'll both look to latch on with another wideout-needy team before the start of the regular season. Tate, 25, has never played in more than 12 games in his four NFL seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. He caught just three of four targets for 39 yards and a touchdown in seven games in 2021. After four years with the Green Bay Packers, Allison played in only three games last year for the Detroit Lions and failed to haul in either of his two targets.
The Atlanta Falcons signed former Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions wide receiver Geronimo Allison to an undisclosed deal on Monday. Allison was recently in camp on a tryout basis with Atlanta. He didn't play at all in 2020 due to concerns about COVID-19, and Allison had zero catches on only two targets in three games played for the Lions last season. In Atlanta, the 28-year-old will compete for a role on offense with the likes of Olamide Zaccheaus, KhaDarel Hodge, Damiere Byrd and Auden Tate behind starters Bryan Edwards and rookie Drake London. There is opportunity with the Falcons given their unsettled receiver depth chart, but fantasy managers can find better gambles at the position in deep leagues.
Free-agent wide receiver Geronimo Allison has a visit scheduled with the Ravens on Saturday. The 28-year-old is best known for his days as a Green Bay Packer, where he played his first four years, totaling 1,045 yards and six touchdowns off 89 catches. He opted out of the 2020 campaign due to COVID-19 concerns, and he played sporadically last season with the Lions, although it was mainly as a member of the practice squad. Nonetheless, if Allison gets signed by Baltimore, there probably won't be a lot of excited fantasy managers. However, after the Ravens sent Marquise Brown to Arizona, there isn't much competition for playing time outside Rashod Bateman and Mark Andrews. As a result, Allison could be featured as a waiver wire option at some point during the year, but he'll need to get a deal first before that happens.
The Detroit Lions signed wide receiver Geronimo Allison to the active roster. Allison was added to the Lions' practice squad in September and promoted to the 53-man roster on Wednesday. With the Green Bay Packers, the 27-year-old caught 89 of his 146 targets for 1,045 yards and six touchdowns in 46 games (14 starts) in four seasons. The Lions are banged up at wide receiver as Tyrell Williams (concussion), and Quintez Cephus (collarbone) are currently sidelined. Allison was added to Lion's roster for depth purposes but is not on the fantasy radar in 2021.
The Detroit Lions signed wide receiver Geronimo Allison to their practice squad on Wednesday. The Lions are giving themselves a little receiving insurance after it was announced that No. 1 receiver Tyrell Williams was put in the league's concussion protocol after the Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Detroit has one of the thinnest group of wideouts in the NFL, so there's a chance that Allison could get a call to the active roster in the near future. However, it doesn't mean that Allison will be fantasy relevant for the Lions if he gets on the field. The 27-year-old spent his first four years with the Green Bay Packers, catching 89 of his 146 targets for 1,045 yards and six touchdowns in 46 games (14 starts).
Detroit Lions wide receiver Geronimo Allison has been waived by the team. Allison signed with the Lions last season but then opted out of the 2020 season. Allison came into camp with an opportunity to carve out a role in a thin wide receivers room but failed to make an impact. Allison could return to the team after he clears waivers but this new regime appears to be moving on.
Geronimo Allison Adds 25 Yards In Preseason Finale
Detroit Lions wide receiver Geronimo Allison caught two passes for 25 yards in the team's preseason finale against the Colts. Allison was targeted four times and has consistently made one or two plays in each preseason game. The former Packer could be on the bubble heading into the team's final roster cuts but the Lions sport a very thin wide receiver's room in terms of experience and stature. If Allison makes the team, he does not immediately figure into the Lions Week 1 plans.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Geronimo Allison caught two passes for 17 yards in the team's first preseason game of the year against the Bills. The former Packer is looking to carve out a role on a Lions team desperate to find some offensive stalwarts at wide receiver. Allison saw three targets in the game and mostly ran with the second-team offense. The 27-year-old's experience in the NFL, at this time, gives him an inside track to earn one of the final roster spots at wide receiver.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Geronimo Allison will have an opportunity to find a role on a young Lions offense heading into training camp. The 25-year-old has been the first four years of his career in Green Bay and now moves over to a NFC North rival. Allison played in all 16 games last season but was named the starter for only six of them. He racked up a career-high 34 passes on 55 targets last season with 287 yards and two touchdowns. Allison came into the league as a downfield threat but averaged only 8.4 yards per catch last season. The Lions have completely overhauled their wide receiving group in the offseason and there will be plenty of chances to build chemistry with new quarterback Jared Goff throughout camp and preseason action.
The Detroit Lions agreed to terms with former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Geronimo Allison on a one-year deal for $910,000 on Sunday. Allison will also receive a $137,500 signing bonus, which is the maximum for the veteran minimum. The 26-year-old had a career-high 34 catches in 2019 for only 287 yards (career-low 8.4 yards per catch) and two touchdowns in 16 games (six starts). Even with the Packers desperately looking for somebody to step up in the receiving game behind Davante Adams last season, Allison wasn't able to rise to the occasion. He won't have much of a chance for consistent playing time in his new home either, with Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones and Danny Amendola ahead of him. You can ignore Allison in standard-sized leagues unless an injury opens up a starting spot for him.
