Haason Reddick News
Carolina Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer said that he anticipates outside linebacker Haason Reddick testing the open free-agent market this offseason to test his worth after back-to-back double-digit sack seasons. Reddick had a career-high 12.5 sacks with the Arizona Cardinals in 2020 before recording 11 sacks in 16 games in his first season in Carolina in 2021. He also added 68 tackles (37 solo), 12 tackles for loss, 18 QB hits, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery for the Panthers. The 27-year-old former first-rounder will surely be looking for a more lucrative multi-year deal after two straight solid seasons, but it remains to be seen if the Panthers will pay up to keep him around.
The Carolina Panthers placed outside linebacker Haason Reddick and reserve quarterback P.J. Walker on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday. The team also activated offensive linemen Pat Elflein and Dennis Daley from the list. The Panthers defense could be extremely short-handed in Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints, as they put defensive ends Brian Burns and Marquis Haynes Sr. and linebacker Shaq Thompson on the COVID list earlier this week, along with defensive tackle Phil Hoskins. Reddick has been a staple in IDP leagues this year with 37 tackles, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 11 sacks in 15 games. Fantasy managers should avoid the Panthers defensive unit in fantasy against a Saints offense that is getting quarterback Taysom Hill back from the COVID list this week.
The Carolina Panthers agreed on a one-year deal worth a maximum of $8 million with free-agent linebacker Haason Reddick. He'll receive $6 million guaranteed and will rejoin his college coach at Temple in Matt Rhule. Reddick had a breakout year last season when he tallied 12.5 sacks. The 26-year-old also recorded 63 combined tackles (15 for loss), 16 QB hits, four passes defensed and six forced fumbles in 16 games (11 starts). Reddick was the only player in the league last year to rank in the top five in sacks, forced fumbles and tackles for loss. He's one of just three players with at least 250 tackles and 20 sacks since 2017, joining Jamal Adams and Kyle Van Noy. Reddick will be an immediate pass-rushing boost for a Panthers defense that has been pretty bad in recent seasons.
