Haason Reddick Extends Holdout Into Training Camp

New York Jets pass rusher Haason Reddick will continue to hold out as training camp gets underway, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Reddick skipped minicamp and continues to take a firm stance on his contract status with the regular season just six weeks away. The Jets acquired Reddick from the Eagles this offseason, hoping to benefit from a player who demonstrates availability and dominance. (He registered 11 sacks last year and has never missed a game throughout seven seasons.) While he seeks a new contract with just one year remaining on his current deal, we recently heard that the team is not expected to give him a new deal. It's unclear just how long this holdout will continue, but the two sides are clearly at an impasse as training camp gets underway across the NFL.

Jets Unlikely To Offer Haason Reddick A New Deal

New York Jets edge rusher Haason Reddick sat out the entire offseason program after being traded from the Philadelphia Eagles as he seeks a new contract. However, Jets reporter Zack Rosenblatt believes the team is unlikely to offer him a new deal before the start of training camp that begins on July 23. Reddick was unhappy with his deal in Philadelphia, which makes sense considering he has the sixth-most sacks since 2021 (38) but has the 19th-highest average salary ($15 million) among edge defenders. Rosenblatt said the organization could opt to guarantee his salary or add incentives to his deal to alleviate any issues, but this is a situation worth monitoring as the 2024 campaign approaches.

Haason Reddick Not At Minicamp

New York Jets linebacker Haason Reddick, who the Jets acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason to fortify their pass rush, is not present at mandatory minicamp this week. It makes Reddick officially a holdout, but head coach Robert Saleh indicated he felt Reddick would show up eventually. The 29-year-old didn't take part in any voluntary organized team activities last month, either, as he seeks a new contract with just one year remaining on his current deal. The Jets expected Reddick to take part in their offseason program when they traded for him, but apparently he's had a change of heart. The former 13th overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2017 out of Temple has been a Pro Bowler in each of the last two seasons and has double-digit sacks in each of the last four years.

Haason Reddick Expected To Attend Mandatory Minicamp

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh said that linebacker Haason Reddick, who has been absent for voluntary organized team activities this offseason, should be in attendance for the team's mandatory minicamp next week. "We know he's working his tail off to get where he needs to get to to have a productive '24 season," Saleh said. The Jets acquired Reddick in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason, but he has yet to join his new team. The 29-year-old has expressed a desire for a new contract as he enters the final year of his current contract, so that's the most likely reason he hasn't reported to the Jets yet. When he is back on the field, Reddick will join an already strong Jets defense. Reddick has been a Pro Bowler each of the last two years with the Eagles, racking up 27 sacks in 34 regular-season games.

Haason Reddick Being Traded To Jets

The Philadelphia Eagles are trading Pro Bowl edge rusher Haason Reddick to the New York Jets for a conditional 2026 third-round pick that could turn into a second-rounder. Reddick was rumored to be on the trade block this offseason, and the Jets jumped on him after losing Bryce Huff and failing to sign Jadeveon Clowney. Reddick has posted at least 11 sacks in each of the last four seasons, despite being on three different teams (Cardinals, Panthers, Eagles). The 2022 All-Pro selection has racked up 50.5 total sacks since 2020, and he is set to join a defensive front that is already dominant. New York is clearly going all in this year as Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) is set to return.

Haason Reddick Wants To Stay With Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro pass-rusher Haason Reddick said he never requested a trade and wants to stay in Philadelphia. "I would like to get an extension done here at home. At no point did I ever tell the organization I want to be traded," Reddick said. He has one year left on his deal with no guaranteed money left. "This is home for me. I was born and raised here. Two of the most fun years playing football in my life came here. I've cherished being an Eagle." The 29-year-old linebacker reportedly requested a trade several days ago as he enters the final year of his current deal. The former first-rounder has had double-digit sacks in each of the last four seasons and has accumulated 27 sacks in his two years in Philadelphia. If he's going to stay in Philly, the Eagles are either going to have to restructure his deal or sign him to an extension.

Haason Reddick Receives Permission To Seek A Trade

Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro edge rusher Haason Reddick has received permission to seek a trade following another disruptive season featuring double-digit sacks (11), according to sources. The 29-year-old has produced 27 sacks in his two seasons with the Eagles and should draw plenty of interest from teams looking to bolster their pass rush this offseason. In addition to his 11 sacks in 2023, Reddick compiled 38 tackles (29 solo), 13 tackles for loss and 23 QB hits in 17 starts for Philly. He now has four straight seasons with double-digit sacks and has 58 in his seven NFL seasons after spending his first four years with the Arizona Cardinals. Reddick is entering the final year of his current contract and will be looking for a long-term contraction extension with whatever team is willing to trade for him.

Haason Reddick On Track To Play In Week 1

Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Haason Reddick (thumb) said that he tore a ligament in his right thumb but that he's progressing well and doesn't think it will affect his performance. Reddick is on target to play in the season opener in Week 1 against the New England Patriots on Sept. 10. The 28-year-old already had surgery on his thumb, but he should be active to kick things off in a couple of weeks. Fantasy managers in IDP leagues shouldn't expect Reddick to reproduce the career-high 16 sacks that he had in 17 regular season starts last year, but you can't ignore the fact that he's now tallied 115 solo tackles, 39.5 sacks, 38 tackles for loss, 60 QB hits and 13 forced fumbles in 49 games (44 starts) over the last three seasons.

Haason Reddick Having Thumb Surgery

Philadelphia Eagles star linebacker Haason Reddick (thumb) is having thumb surgery to address an injury that he suffered in Monday's training camp practice, according to sources. It's being done so that he can be ready for the start of the 2023 regular season. After signing a three-year, $45 million deal with the Eagles last offseason, Reddick made his first Pro Bowl and had 49 tackles (35 solo), a career-high 16 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, 26 QB hits, a league-high five forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in 17 regular season starts in his first year in Philly. The former first-rounder in 2017 will once again be a key cog on the Eagles defense in 2023 and shouldn't have to miss any games at the start of the season, barring a setback with his thumb after surgery.

Haason Reddick Expected To Test Free Agency

Carolina Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer said that he anticipates outside linebacker Haason Reddick testing the open free-agent market this offseason to test his worth after back-to-back double-digit sack seasons. Reddick had a career-high 12.5 sacks with the Arizona Cardinals in 2020 before recording 11 sacks in 16 games in his first season in Carolina in 2021. He also added 68 tackles (37 solo), 12 tackles for loss, 18 QB hits, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery for the Panthers. The 27-year-old former first-rounder will surely be looking for a more lucrative multi-year deal after two straight solid seasons, but it remains to be seen if the Panthers will pay up to keep him around.
