Jakeem Grant Sr. News
The Cleveland Browns signed Pro Bowl return man and wide receiver Jakeem Grant Sr. to a three-year deal worth up to $13.8 million on Wednesday, according to a source. Grant spent the 2021 season with the Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears. He was much more productive on offense in Chicago, catching nine of 15 targets for 139 yards and two touchdowns while adding five carries for 33 yards and two more TDs in 11 games played. The 29-year-old could help replace some of Jarvis Landry's production on offense, but he'll mainly be used on special teams in his new home. Unless your league gives points for return yardage, Grant will likely be left to the waiver wire to begin the season in most leagues, especially if quarterback Baker Mayfield stays under center.
Chicago Bears wide receivers Jakeem Grant Sr. (concussion) and Marquise Goodwin (illness) were both full participants in Friday's practice and are set to play in Week 17. Having both receivers back on the field will add plenty of speed to a struggling Bears offense but provide very little from a fantasy perspective. Grant Sr. specifically has been able to flash occasionally with increased opportunities on offense but neither are worthy of consideration for the final fantasy week of the season.
Chicago Bears wide receiver Jakeem Grant Sr. (head) appears to have cleared the league's concussion protocol and was able to practice in full on Wednesday. Grant missed last week's game after suffering a concussion in Week 15, and as long as he avoids setbacks later in the week, he looks to be on track to return in Week 17 against the New York Giants. The 29-year-old is more useful to the Bears as a kick returner on special teams, but he's been useful as a speedy gadget player on offense as well in recent games. But with both Allen Robinson II and Marquise Goodwin back from COVID and injuries, Grant has an even tougher path for touches in this low-upside Bears offense.
