Jarrad Davis' Season Is Over

The New York Giants placed linebacker Jarrad Davis (knee) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday, ending his 2023 season before it even started. It's a tough break for Davis, who injured his knee during organized team activities this spring. The 27-year-old was a former first-round selection by the Detroit Lions back in 2017 and was expected to compete for a depth role at inside linebacker for the Giants this summer in training camp. Injuries have limited him to just 13 games in the last two seasons with the Giants, Lions and New York Jets. Davis played in only four games in 2022 and finished with 14 tackles (seven solo) and half a sack with the Lions and Giants.

Jarrad Davis Out Indefinitely After Having Surgery

New York Giants inside linebacker Jarrad Davis (undisclosed) is out indefinitely after having undisclosed surgery. It's a hit to the team's depth at the position that is already lacking experience next to Bobby Okereke and Darrian Beavers. Davis surely isn't going to be ready for the start of training camp in a couple of weeks, and it will probably be a stretch for him to be ready for the start of the regular season, too. With the 27-year-old now on the mend, it's going to open up an opportunity for more playing time early on for Carter Coughlin. Davis, a former first-rounder in 2017, played in just four games (one start) last year for the Detroit Lions and Giants, tallying 14 tackles (seven solo) and half a sack.

Jarrad Davis Going Back To Detroit

Free-agent linebacker Jarrad Davis, formerly of the New York Jets, is heading back to Detroit, inking a one-year deal on Friday. The 27-year-old will now return to the team that selected him with the 21st overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, where he spent his first four seasons. Nonetheless, Davis isn't expected to contribute much on the fantasy end, primarily since he's only had 10.5 sacks throughout his career. However, the veteran is someone IDP managers should watch, especially if he starts living up to his first-round potential.

Jets Activate Jarrad Davis From Injured Reserve

The New York Jets activated linebacker Jarrad Davis (ankle) from Injured Reserve on Saturday and elevated quarterback Josh Johnson to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. Davis will be making his season debut in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals after getting injured in the preseason, and he will likely draw the start on Sunday. In 14 games (four starts) for the Detroit Lions in 2020, Davis had 46 tackles, half a sack and two forced fumbles. The former first-rounder in 2017 should help boost the interior of New York's defense in a tough matchup with the rising Bengals. In a corresponding move, the Jets released safety Jarrod Wilson.

Jarrad Davis Finds A Home With Jets

Former Detroit Lions first-round linebacker Jarrad Davis is signing a one-year deal worth $7 million with the New York Jets on Monday, according to a source. Davis disappointed as a middle linebacker in his four years in Detroit and played sparingly in 2020. New defensive-minded head coach Robert Saleh obviously thinks that the Jets can turn Davis around. The 26-year-old had 201 solo tackles (19 for loss), one interception, nine passes defensed, seven forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 10.5 sacks in his four seasons in Detroit. In 14 games played last season, Davis had a career-low 46 tackles (25 solo), four QB hits, two forced fumbles and half a sack in 14 games (only four starts).

Lions Place Jarrad Davis On COVID-19 List

The Detroit Lions placed linebacker Jarrad Davis on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday. Davis, the 21st overall pick in the first round in 2017, will not be eligible to play in Week 9 against the Vikings, which is good news for Vikings star running back Dalvin Cook. The 24-year-old has recorded 18 tackles (10 solo), three QB hits and two forced fumbles in seven games this year with Detroit. Davis has been a solid contributor in the middle of Detroit's defense, but it hasn't resulted in fantasy relevant numbers for those in IDP leagues. The Lions also rank 30th in the NFL in overall fantasy points, so the Lions Defense isn't a unit that you should be looking to use in Week 9 in their divisional matchup with Minnesota.

Jarrad Davis Remains In Detroit's Plans

Despite the Detroit Lions declining the fifth-year option on linebacker Jarrad Davis, head coach Matt Patricia said that Davis remains a foundational piece in the middle of the defense and remains in the team's plans for the foreseeable future. I think JD is a cornerstone of what were trying to do, and hes in those big-picture plans of where were trying to go, Patricia said. He was the 21st overall pick in the 2017 draft and while he's been great in the locker room and at film study as a leader, Davis has been inconsistent on the field. He ranked 83rd out of 89 qualifying players at his position in pass coverage in 2019, according to Pro Football Focus. Davis had career lows across the board last year, too, so he'll need to pick it up quite a bit for Detroit to have any ideas of extending him beyond 2020.

Lions Not Expected To Pick Up Jarrad Davis' Option

The Detroit Lions are not expected to pick up the fifth-year option on linebacker Jarrad Davis, according to a source. Davis will now become a free agent after the 2020 season. He was the 21st overall pick in the first round by the Lions in the 2017 draft, but Davis just hasn't had the production typically associated with a first-round pick. The 24-year-old had 196 combined tackles in his first two seasons but dipped down to 63 tackles and just two sacks in only 11 games for Detroit in 2019. He's recorded only 10 sacks and 19 QB hits in total in his three seasons in the league.

Jarrad Davis, Frank Ragnow Avoid Season-Ending Injuries

Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia said that linebacker Jarrad Davis (ankle) and center Frank Ragnow (knee) avoided season-ending injuries after getting hurt in the preseason game on Friday night against the Bills. It's great news, but both players could still be questionable to suit up in the regular season opener against the Cardinals in two weeks. Davis emerged as a solid inside presence for Detroit's defense last year, while Ragnow is an essential cog in the team's offensive line. You can avoid Detroit's defense/special teams unit in fantasy, though.

Jarrad Davis, Frank Ragnow Injured Friday

Detroit Lions linebacker Jarrad Davis (ankle) suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter of Friday's preseason game against the Bills. He was carried off the field by trainers and carted to the locker room. He'll undergo an MRI exam on Saturday. Center Frank Ragnow (leg) was also taken to the locker room in the second quarter after suffering a right leg injury. Davis, 24, would be a big loss for Detroit's interior defense, as he's had over 90 tackles each of his first two seasons, including six sacks in 16 games in 2018. Ragnow's injury could make life more difficult for the Lions offensive line heading into the regular season.
