Chiefs Sign Jaylon Moore To Two-Year Deal

The Kansas City Chiefs signed four-year veteran free-agent offensive lineman Jaylon Moore (quadriceps) to a two-year, $30 million deal on Monday, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Moore, a fifth-round pick (155th overall) by the San Francisco 49ers in 2021 out of Western Michigan, played in all four seasons in the Bay Area but started only 12 of the 55 games he appeared in. The 27-year-old appeared in 15 games last year (five starts)and finished the year on Injured Reserve due to a quadriceps injury. Although he was mostly a backup with the Niners, the Chiefs are hoping he can bring some stability to their left-tackle spot after they went through four players at the position in 2024. After going through Kingsley Suamataia, Wanya Morris and D.J. Humphries, the Chiefs ended the year with Joe Thuney at left tackle. They traded Thuney to the Bears last week.

Jaylon Moore Placed On Injured Reserve

The Jacksonville Jaguars placed wide receiver Jaylon Moore (undisclosed) on Injured Reserve on Wednesday and signed linebacker Willie Taylor III in a corresponding move. It looks like Moore will miss all of the 2023 season after he signed a Reserve/Futures contract with the team following last year. The 25-year-old pass-catcher has bounced around with a few teams after going undrafted in 2020, and he hasn't played in an NFL game to this point. Taylor played in the XFL for the Arlington Renegades this spring and had 11 tackles and four sacks. He played collegiately at Washington State from 2017-21 before transferring to Eastern Kentucky for 2022.

Jaylon Moore, Josh Oliver Standing Out

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jaylon Moore, who spent last season on the practice squad, was involved in every offseason practice and made highlight-reel-type catches in several of them. With a ton of receivers ahead of him on the practice squad, it's unlikely that Moore will make the roster. However, his improvement this year has been notable and impressive. Tight end Josh Oliver was the most consistent and involved tight end in the passing game this offseason. He presented himself as a big, athletic target who can create separation from defenders. Oliver is also healthy after being limited to just four games in his last two seasons. He'll represent valuable tight end depth behind Mark Andrews and Nick Boyle.
