Jermaine Burton Still Week-to-Week With Ankle Injury

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said that wide receiver Jermaine Burton (ankle) remains week-to-week with an ankle injury, according to ESPN's Ben Baby. Burton has not played at all for the Bengals in 2025, and he doesn't seem particularly close to making his season debut for the team's Week 14 tilt against the Buffalo Bills next Sunday. Even if the 24-year-old pass-catcher can return at some point before the end of the season, he will be hard-pressed to jump into a key role in Cincy's receiving corps. The former third-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft out of Alabama played in 14 games (one start) in his rookie campaign, catching only four of 14 targets for 107 receiving yards and no touchdowns. Character concerns caused him to drop in the draft and followed him into Year 1 in the NFL. Burton reportedly made strides with his maturity in the offseason, but his health hasn't cooperated in 2025.

Jermaine Burton Downgraded to Out for Week 11 Due to Illness

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jermaine Burton (illness) will not play in his team's Week 11 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to illness, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Burton has not appeared in a game for Cincinnati yet this season. The former third-round pick flashed upside at times during his rookie season in 2024, but he is buried on the Bengals' wide receiver depth chart. Cincinnati wideouts Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Andrei Iosivas should remain the top options for quarterback Joe Flacco in Week 11 against Pittsburgh.

Jermaine Burton a Healthy Scratch Again in Week 2

For the second straight week to begin the 2025 season, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jermaine Burton is a healthy inactive for the Week 2 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Burton had a pretty rough rookie season in 2024 that involved some maturity issues, but he got rave reviews during training camp in the summer. For now, though, Charlie Jones is ahead of him as the team's WR4 behind Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Andrei Iosivas. The 24-year-old former third-rounder caught four passes for 107 yards on 14 targets in 14 games in his rookie season. Burton isn't anywhere close to the fantasy radar in redraft leagues right now.

Jermaine Burton a Healthy Scratch for Week 1

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jermaine Burton is a healthy scratch for the Week 1 season opener on Sunday against the division-rival Cleveland Browns. Burton came down with a knee injury in the preseason finale against the Indianapolis Colts two weeks ago, but he had since returned to full practice and was removed from the final Week 1 injury report heading into the weekend. The 24-year-old still has potential, but he's buried on the current receiver depth chart behind Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Andrei Iosivas right now. The former third-rounder (80th overall) last year showed maturity issues in his rookie season and caught only four of his 14 targets for 107 yards in 14 games (one start). The Bengals are still holding out hope he can contribute in the long term, but for now, Burton is off the fantasy radar outside of dynasty/keeper leagues as a bench stash.

Jermaine Burton Doesn't Return to Preseason Finale Due to Knee Injury

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jermaine Burton (knee) exited Saturday's loss to the Colts. He did not return. The wideout injured his knee during the Bengals' preseason opener against the Philadelphia Eagles and didn't play in the Monday Night Football clash with the Washington Commanders. Burton managed to suit up for the preseason finale, although he caught only one of his four targets for 16 yards before his premature departure. Head coach Zac Taylor couldn't provide an update while speaking after the game, so fantasy managers should consider him as day-to-day. However, Burton's fantasy outlook doesn't look promising even if he gets a positive update about his knee, especially since he's expected to be at least the No. 4 receiver on the depth chart behind Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Andrei Iosivas. If anything, he'll get most of his work on special teams.

Jermaine Burton Progressing in Recovery From Injury

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jermaine Burton (undisclosed) is making progress in his recovery from an undisclosed injury and is considered day-to-day, head coach Zac Taylor said Wednesday. Burton suffered the injury during the Bengals' preseason-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Aug. 7 and didn't play in their win over the Washington Commanders on Monday. The Bengals used the 80th overall pick in the 2024 draft on Burton, but the move hasn't panned out thus far. Burton had some off-the-field issues as a rookie and caught a meager four passes on 14 targets in 14 games. The 24-year-old probably won't be anything more than the Bengals' No. 4 receiver in 2025 with stars Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins locked into the top two spots and Andrei Iosivas coming off a solid second season.

Jermaine Burton Back at Practice on Friday

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jermaine Burton (undisclosed) is back in uniform and at training camp practice on Friday, according to Charlie Clifford of NBC 5 Cincinnati. Burton apparently suffered an undisclosed injury in the preseason opener last week against the Philadelphia Eagles after he caught one pass and had a couple punt and kickoff returns on special teams. It remains to be seen if the 24-year-old will suit up for the second preseason contest on Monday night against the Washington Commanders. For fantasy purposes, the third-round pick last year is off the radar in most leagues. In his rookie campaign last year, Burton caught four of 14 targets for 107 yards and no touchdowns in 14 games (one start). Right now, he's the team's WR4, at best, behind Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Andrei Iosivas. UPDATE: Burton worked on a side rehab field on Friday.

Jermaine Burton Misses Practice on Sunday

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jermaine Burton (undisclosed) missed practice on Sunday with an undisclosed injury and is considered day-to-day, according to ESPN's Ben Baby. He was a full participant in the team's practice on Saturday, so it's not clear when exactly this injury occurred. A third-round pick in 2024, Burton recorded just four catches in 14 games as a rookie. With Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins earning the lion's share of the wide receiver targets in Cincinnati and Andrei Iosivas entrenched as a solid WR3, it will be difficult for Burton to factor in fantasy without at least one injury to a player ahead of him on the depth chart.

Jermaine Burton Continues to Impress at Training Camp

According to Chris Roling of Bengals Wire, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jermaine Burton has stood out during training camp. The 24-year-old, selected as the No. 80 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, had an uneventful rookie season, amassing only four receptions for 107 yards in 14 games. There were also behavioral concerns. However, Burton has seemingly turned things around, with the wideout receiving praise from quarterback Joe Burrow while being "nothing but positive in interviews and eye-openingly good on the field." Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, who both signed new deals in the offseason, will remain the featured wideouts. Still, Burton could find himself in a bigger role if Chase or Higgins go down with an injury, potentially earning more targets than Andrei Iosivas. With that in mind, Burton has little-to-no redraft value at the moment, although he's still worth stashing on dynasty rosters.

Jermaine Burton Continues to Show Growth

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jermaine Burton continues to make a positive impression on the coaching staff. Head coach Zac Taylor has already touted the wideout's improved growth and maturity this offseason. However, it didn't end there, with offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher being the latest member of the staff to comment on Burton's personal development. "He's got a good look in his eye," stated Pitcher. "He's putting the time in." The 24-year-old, selected with the No. 80 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, had a forgettable rookie campaign, amassing only four catches (14 targets) for 107 yards. He was also held out of three contests while failing to find the end zone. Without question, Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Chase Brown will each command attention from quarterback Joe Burrow. Tight end Mike Gesicki should also be involved. Still, Burton has a chance to climb the depth chart, which could result in fewer snaps for Andrei Iosivas. With that said, Burton has a way to go before earning the trust of fantasy managers, although he's worth monitoring heading into Week 1. His ceiling could rise even more if Chase, Higgins, or Iosivas get injured at some point during the season, giving him streaming potential.
