The New Orleans Saints signed free-agent tight end Jesper Horsted to an undisclosed deal on Friday and waived wide receiver Kyle Sheets in a corresponding move, according to executive vice president/general manager Horsted didn't play at all in 2024 while with the Las Vegas Raiders due to a hamstring issue, but he's presumably healed from that injury and now ready to compete for a roster spot with the Saints in training camp and the preseason. The 27-year-old entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2019 out of Princeton with the Chicago Bears and played in two seasons in the Windy City before joining the Raiders in 2022. In his four years in the league, he's amassed just 14 receptions for 131 yards and three touchdowns, so he's obviously nowhere near the fantasy radar.
The Las Vegas Raiders signed former Chicago Bears tight end Jesper Horsted to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday. Horsted was waived by the Bears in May with a failed-physical designation. The 25-year-old will be trying to win a roster spot with the Raiders in training camp after catching only 10 passes on 13 targets for 108 yards and three touchdowns in his two seasons with Chicago over 13 games (one start). Horsted will be battling with the likes of Jacob Hollister and Nick Bowers for depth behind All-Pro Darren Waller and Foster Moreau. The Raiders also have undrafted rookie tight ends Cole Fotheringham and Travis Koontz on the current roster.
The Chicago Bears tendered one-year deals to exclusive-rights free-agent tight end Jesper Horsted, center Sam Mustipher and offensive tackle Lachavious Simmons on Tuesday. Horsted joined Chicago as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and caught eight passes for 87 yards and one touchdown in his rookie season. Horsted spent all of 2020 on the practice squad before catching two of three targets for 21 yards and two touchdowns in seven games for the Bears in 2021. Veteran Jimmy Graham and Jesse James are both scheduled to become free agents on March 16, so Horsted could be competing with Cole Kmet for starting duties in 2022.
Chicago Bears tight end Jesper Horsted has made a strong case for himself to make the final roster after catching three touchdowns against the Titans. Horsted made the most out of playing 64% of the team's offensive snaps, catching five passes for 104 yards with three impressive scores. Teammates Cole Kmet, Jimmy Graham and Jesse James are locks to make the roster and the final spot will be between Horsted and J.P. Holz. The Bears have until Tuesday afternoon to make their final decisions.
