The Cleveland Browns signed free-agent veteran offensive lineman Joe Haeg to an undisclosed deal on Sunday, according to a source. Haeg will provide depth at tackle and can also play guard. Right tackle Jack Conklin is working his way back from knee surgery, so the Browns wanted some insurance on the offensive line. Haeg met with the Las Vegas Raiders last week before signing with Cleveland. The 29-year-old former fifth-round selection by the Indianapolis Colts in 2016 out of North Dakota State played in 12 games (two starts) for the Pittsburgh Steelers last year before he was recently cut. He spent his first four NFL seasons in Indianapolis before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020.
Indianapolis Colts right tackle Joe Haeg (ankle) is nearing a return from Injured Reserve to help boost the Colts offensive line. When looking across their line, Haeg represents a good candidate to fill in at any spot necessary. He has been a versatile player for them in his career, and his return would bolster a group that has already played far better than any season of quarterbackAndrew Luck's career. Haeg won't be back this week, but he could be back in the next couple of weeks. If the Colts choose to utilize Haeg in the starting lineup, he should open up even more holes for a running game that has come on strong in the last few weeks while giving Luck even more time to throw.
