John Ross III News

John Ross III Asking For A Trade

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver John Ross III has asked the team for a trade. The speedy former ninth overall pick had been inactive for three straight weeks before returning to action in Week 6, but he played just one snap against the Colts. Ross' agent said that his client is frustrated with his lack of playing time and they've had talks with the team about a trade, but those talks didn't go very far. The 25-year-old had a couple 100-yard games early last season, but then he got hurt and never quite established a firm role in the offense. Now he's behind Tyler Boyd, A.J. Green and rookie Tee Higgins on the receiver depth chart and has just two catches for 17 yards in three games this year. A change of scenery would be for the best, but it wouldn't guarantee that he resurfaces to fantasy relevance.

John Ross III Not Expected To Play Sunday

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver John Ross III (illness) is listed as doubtful to play in Week 5 against the Ravens. Ross was unable to practice each of the last two days. The 25-year-old speedster hasn't been active since Week 2 and has only two catches on seven targets for 17 yards in two games this season. Rookie Tee Higgins has clearly leapfrogged Ross on the wide receiver depth chart, and Auden Tate might be in front of Ross at this point, too. Tyler Boyd has become rookie quarterback Joe Burrow's favorite target, while veteran A.J. Green has become an inconsistent headache for fantasy managers. Ross can be dropped in the vast majority of fantasy leagues now that he's clearly buried on the depth chart.

John Ross III A Healthy Scratch Again

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver John Ross III is a healthy scratch against the Jaguars on Sunday, marking his second week in a row that the team hasn't had him suit up. The former first round pick looked like he was trending up in 2019, but it's now clear that he's not part of this team's plans in the short or long term. He's droppable in redraft leagues. With Ross out, expect to see more from rookie Tee Higgins, who might be worth a play as a value option in DFS.
