Running back Josh Adams has inked a practice squad deal with the New Orleans Saints, per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football. Adams appeared in one game earlier this season with the Jets, but he did not log an offensive snap. An undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame, Adams' most extended action came during his rookie year in 2018 with the Eagles when he appeared in 14 games (five starts) and logged 120 carries for 511 yards and three rushing touchdowns. Adams' path to fantasy relevance is an arduous one, as Alvin Kamara remains at the top of the Saints' backfield with Mark Ingram II and Dwayne Washington also in the mix.
Former New York Jets running back Josh Adams cleared waivers on Monday and decided not to re-sign to the team's practice squad, according to a source. Adams was a healthy scratch in the first two weeks of the season and played just 11 special teams snaps in Week 3. There are at least a few running back-needy out there that could give Adams an opportunity, but we'd be surprised if he lands somewhere and has an immediate on-field impact, let alone a fantasy one. The Chicago Bears are one team that comes to mind after lead back David Montgomery suffered a hyperextended knee in Week 4 that could keep him out for multiple weeks. If Adams lands somewhere else quickly, he'll likely start on a practice squad and will need to prove himself before earning a promotion.
New York Jets running back Josh Adams has been a forgotten man during the preseason and in training camp. Despite that, he made a strong impression on the team during Friday's preseason finale against the Philadelphia Eagles. He rushed 12 times for 62 yards and hauled in three receptions for 17 yards through the air. Those 62 yards on the ground was a team-high in this contest. However, Adams is currently listed as the No. 5 back on the roster. The Jets plan to use a running back committee to begin the season. It's uncertain which players are going to be involved in that. Regardless, it's unlikely Adams has any fantasy value heading into the season despite a decent showing here.
The New York Jets re-signed running back Josh Adams to an undisclosed one-year deal, according to sources. Adams became an unrestricted free agent when the team chose not to tender him as a restricted free agent, but he'll return nonetheless. Adams is an ideal scheme fit in offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur's offense. He's mostly been on the team's practice squad since joining them in 2019, appearing in only 11 games while rushing for 169 yards and two touchdowns over the last two seasons. In 14 games (five starts) with the Philadelphia Eagles in his rookie season in 2018, Adams had 511 rushing yards, 58 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He could have a real opportunity for playing time alongside La'Mical Perine, Ty Johnson and Pete Guerriero in 2021.
New York Jets running back Josh Adams has seen 14 carries over the last two games. Sadly, he won't have much fantasy value with Frank Gore and Ty Johnson getting touches as well. Adams did have a nice outing in Week 13, but it's unlikely he does much of anything against the Los Angeles Rams Defense. It's best to ignore Adams going forward in basically all fantasy formats.
New York Jets running back Josh Adams was once again involved in the rushing attack for this offense, but not quite as effective as last week. Adams rushed six times for 27 yards in the Week 14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The fact Frank Gore (head) is a little banged up was probably why Adams saw a few carries in this one. Ty Johnson appears to have the most upside out of all three of the backs on this roster. Adams will remain an avoidable option against the Los Angeles Rams next week.
New York Jets running back Josh Adams was not expected to do much of anything heading into this Week 13 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders. However, he was forced into a role after Frank Gore (head) exited the game. Adams rushed eight times for 74 yards in the loss. He was the backup to Ty Johnson who performed fantastic as the lead back in this one. It's unclear if Gore will be able to pass concussion protocol in time for the Week 14 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. Regardless, it's unlikely that Adams gets involved enough to warrant adding in standard leagues.
The New York Jets are signing running back Josh Adams to the active roster on Tuesday from the practice squad, according to a source. The move comes with rookie La'Mical Perine (ankle) out several weeks with a high-ankle sprain. Veteran Frank Gore will continue to be Gang Green's lead back, with Ty Johnson and Adams backing him up. The 24-year-old Adams played in the first two games of the season, carrying the ball just three times for eight yards while catching both of his targets for 14 yards. Like most of the Jets offensive weapons, it's really hard to trust them to help you out in fantasy. Adams can remain on the waiver wire in most leagues.
New York Jets running back Josh Adams was promoted from the practice squad on Saturday ahead of the team's Week 2 matchup with the 49ers. With Le'Veon Bell (hamstring) on Injured Reserve, the Jets are bringing up Adams for some depth. Frank Gore will see most of the carries, with the leftovers going to fellow backs La'Mical Perine (ankle) and newly acquired Kalen Ballage. Adams did score a garbage time touchdown in Week 1, though his role is far too unpredictable to count on for any production. This backfield is one of the more unappealing ones in fantasy football at the moment.
New York Jets running back Josh Adams was signed off the practice squad Tuesday. Starting running back Le'Veon Bell had an MRI on his right knee Monday and this signing has to raise some red flags about his ability to suit up vs the Giants this week. Fantasy owners will know more when the results of the MRI are revealed and the team hits the practice field Wednesday, but this isn't a good sign. Adams won't carry any fantasy value of his own, but Ty Montgomery and Bilal Powell would become interesting flex options in deeper leagues if Bell were to miss time.
