Ladarius Green did return to practice Friday but obviously draws the questionable tag. He's still in the concussion protocol with an illness to boot. The illness is nothing. The concussion issues, not so much. Hopefully there's some sort of final say tomorrow afternoon. The way things look now, Green is on the doubtful side of playing against the Patriots. He's too risky to bet on in fantasy, while Jesse James will be a decent low-priced flier in DFS.
Ladarius Green Participating In Practice On A Limited Basis
Ladarius Green finally returned to practice after a lengthy absence since suffering a setback due to his concussion. It's a huge step in the right direction for Green, who now has four days to get ready for Sunday's AFC Championship. That being said, he is still technically in the concussion protocol, so there are some hurdles he has to clear first. Check back tomorrow for an additional update on Pittsburgh's explosive tight end. Consider no better than 50-50 to suit up, which means Jesse James remains the best bet for increased usage in the passing game.
After suffering a setback a few weeks ago, Ladarius Green has yet to practice as he remains in the concussion protocol. That said, players can still technically practice while remaining in the protocol, so this isn't really that much of an update anyway. Expect a daily update on Ladarius every day until Sunday. If Green is forced to miss another game, Jesse James should continue to see an increased role in the passing game in the AFC Championship.
Jesse James In Line For An Uptick In Snaps With Ladarius Green Doubtful
Now that we know Ladarius Green is unlikely to suit up in Kansas City, Jesse James is once again getting a spot start at tight end. James has shown flashes of touchdown-making ability but hasn't really strung together a bunch of good games in a row. He's also had to deal with splitting time with fellow tight end Xavier Grimble whenever Green has missed time. You'll need to hope James find the end zone in order for it to be worth the dart throw in fantasy.
After an unexpected setback last week, Ladarius Green has yet to return to practice. This is obviously concerning for Pittsburgh's star tight end. He'll have to return to practice by Friday if he expects to suit up in Kansas City. Hopefully he's able get in a limited session tomorrow.
This comes from head coach Mike Tomlin. Ladarius Green suffered a concussion about a month ago now, so this is becoming a real concern. Between his history of concussion issues and taking so long to get over this recent bout, it's safe to say his status for Sunday's game in Kansas City is in question. Obviously these types of injuries are a lot more serious for someone's own personal health rather than a football game, so here's hoping Green takes as much time as he needs. Jesse James would fill in if Ladarius is indeed ruled out.
Jesse James Filling In For Ladarius Green Once Again
Now that Ladarius Green has officially been ruled out, Jesse James will once again fill in at tight end. We've already seen this before and although James has found the end zone on a few occasions, he doesn't really possess significant value for any sort of playoff fantasy. Considering how sporadic the position has been this year, James is as good (or as bad, depending how you choose to look at it) of a dart throw as anyone else.
Ladarius Green has yet to make enough progress from his latest concussion in order to take the field. He's been ruled out of the wild-card game against the Miami Dolphins. Considering how close he was to returning, the Steelers would like to think he'd be available should they advance to Kansas City. Jesse James and Xavier Grimble will step up to fill the void at tight end.
After practicing in full earlier in the week, Ladarius Green took a step back coming out of Thursday's practice. This could very well be a simple precaution with Green's concussion history in mind. After all, players can in fact participate in practice while remaining in the concussion protocol. The team officially lists him as questionable ahead of their wild-card game against the Miami Dolphins. Green looked like a top-end option at tight end for DFS and playoff fantasy formats prior to the downgrade. Check back in the morning for further updates on his status for Sunday's game.
Jesse James A Decent Replacement For Ladarius Green
Once a legit streaming option earlier in the year, Jesse James is back on the radar with Ladarius Green in the concussion protocol. The Steelers have listed Green as doubtful, meaning James would be in line for a start come Sunday. James could also benefit from the absence of Sammie Coates, another Pittsburgh pass catcher who is unlikely to play. With Ben Roethlisberger looking for weapons, James is worth a look for owners scavenging for a TE replacement.
