Myles White Remains in Headlines, Vying for Roster Spot
Odell Beckham Jr. went down with an injury late last week and Myles White was the name called to replace him in practice. In the few days since, White has continued to make himself known. White made his presence known on the field as he beat major off-season signing Janoris Jenkins in a pure foot race down the field. The long touchdown from Eli Manning reminded everyone of White's natural ability and why he was effective last season. There is no doubt that Beckham is the top receiver on the Giants, but if White is able to continuing utilizing his speed he will find a spot in on the offense The receiver is in his second season with the Giants and fighting for one of the last spots on the roster. On the border, his play in the first couple weeks of the preseason will be crucial for his outlook this year.
There has been a noticeable hole on the opposite side of Odell Beckham Jr. the past two seasons and the Giants have tried desperately to fill it. Veteran Victor Cruz is back, but on limited reps. Rookie Sterling Shepard was brought in to help, but at 5'10 he will struggle on the outside. Myles White, in his second season with the Giants, gained attention at camp by making a long reception in tight coverage. White made a statement late in the season last year when the team was thin at receiver, and he now looks to find a larger role in the offense. With Cruz still restricted, White should see increased reps if he can maintain his efficiency in camp. Battling with Tavarres King who has also been notable early in camp, White will see his favor swing heavily over the next week.
