The Oakland Raiders have thrown in the towel on wide receiver Marcell Ateman releasing him on Saturday. A seventh-round pick a season ago, Ateman did little in his rookie year catching 15 passes for 157 yards and was overshadowed by other receivers in this year's preseason. He's an underwhelming talent but has an advantage in size with a 6'4" frame and may be able to latch on elsewhere in the league. Ateman's release opens the door even wider for undrafted rookie Keelan Doss to make the team after a terrific preseason.
Oakland Raiders wide receiver Marcell Ateman caught one of his four targets for 19 yards in Thursdays preseason game versus the Packers. Hes now caught one pass in each of the teams first three exhibition contests, racking up a total of 52 yards. Ateman hasnt impressed all that much so far this preseason and has been getting outplayed by the rest of the wide receiving corps. His roster spot could be in jeopardy, although he wouldnt carry any fantasy value if he made the squad regardless.
Oakland Raiders wide receiver Marcell Ateman is fighting for a roster spot in his second season in the NFL. He's currently listed behind Tyrell Williams on the WR2 depth chart, but he's been outplayed throughout most of the preseason by his teammates. With two catches for 33 yards in two preseason contests, Ateman hasn't seen as many looks or gotten as much praise as other receivers so far in camp. He appears to be on the outside looking in as of now, but there is still time for the roster to shake out. Even if Ateman does crack the roster, he won't hold any fantasy relevance in 2019.
Oakland Raiders wide receiver Marcell Ateman was forced from practice Monday with what appeared to be an arm injury. He was stripped of the football and went immediately to a trainer after the play with his arm down at his side. Ateman was seen doing some work after practice, so it appears that the injury is minor. With a full corps of wide receivers heading to Oakland this offseason, it will be hard for Ateman to lock up playing time in 2019. The second-year wideout caught 15 passes for 154 yards in his rookie year last season and would be fortunate to surpass these marks this year.
Oakland Raiders rookie wide receiver Marcell Ateman was unable to make an impact during Sunday's loss to the Bengals. He ended with just two catches for 20 yards on five targets. He is seeing decent involvement in the passing game but is still unable to post meaningful fantasy numbers from that. Ateman has no fantasy value going forward as we are coming to the end of the season.
Marcell Ateman Not A Fantasy Option Against The Bengals
Oakland Raiders rookie wide receiver Marcell Ateman is not a viable option this week against the Bengals. For a few weeks it appeared that Ateman was set for a large role in the offense, especially after had 10 targets, but since then he has only eight targets for five receptions for a total of 61 yards. He is simply too ineffective with the receptions to be a solid fantasy option despite the favorable matchup.
Oakland Raiders rookie wide receiver Marcell Ateman was unable to make much of an impact in the offense during their win against the Steelers this Sunday. Ateman had only three catches for 45 yards and no touchdowns. He has stepped into a larger role in the offense due to all of the injuries the Raiders have in their receiving core but has yet to truly have a standout performance. He shouldn't be considered a viable fantasy option at this point in the season.
Marcell Ateman Makes Risky Fantasy Option Versus The Steelers
Oakland Raiders rookie wide receiver Marcell Ateman is a risky high-upside play this week against the Steelers. Ateman was able to come away with his first career touchdown last week but only finished with 16 yards total. The week prior, he had only three catches on 10 targets for 16 yards. He has involvement in the passing game since the Raiders are dealing with so many injuries, but he is clearly very inconsistent and unproductive with the targets he gets. The Raiders should be playing from behind meaning more passing opportunities but Ateman will continue to be a risky play until he proves otherwise.
Oakland Raiders rookie wide receiver Marcell Ateman caught his first career touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. Ateman ended with only two catches for 16 yards but was able to haul in his first touchdown. He only had four targets against the Chiefs, which is a large drop off compared to the 10 targets he had last week against the Ravens. He has carved out a role in the offense due to all the injuries, but he still shows plenty of signs of being a rookie and is often unproductive with his targets.
Oakland Raiders rookie wide receiver Marcell Ateman stands to benefit this Sunday against the Chiefs, especially if he can replicate last week's numbers. Ateman came away with 10 targets last week against the Ravens but was only able to turn that into three catches for 16 yards. The volume is fantastic to see, but what he did with those 10 targets is not. If you are dealing with injuries in your season-long league, he is a deep option who should be available in the free agent market.
