The Jacksonville Jaguars placed defensive tackle Marcell Dareus (abdomen) on the Injured Reserve on Friday and signed free-agent defensive tackle Akeem Spence to the active roster in a corresponding move. Dareus could be designated to return later this season, but the Jaguars will basically be without him for the rest of the regular season. It's a downgrade to the team's run defense, although Jacksonville's defensive front is still pretty solid. Spence was recently cut by the Eagles, but he'll provide valuable depth up front. The Jags defense is a solid unit to employ in fantasy this week against Jets QB Sam Darnold, who turned the ball over five times in Week 7.
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Marcell Dareus (abdomen) is having core muscle surgery on Thursday, according to sources. The procedure has a high rate of a full recovery and generally comes with a four- to six-week timetable for a return. Dareus is one of the team's best run-stopping defenders, so Jacksonville's D will be a little more vulnerable on the ground while he's out. They still have the talent to overcome Dareus' absence as a group, though, and they'll be a strong play against a Jets team that just got shut out by the Patriots on Monday night.
