Marcus Williams Ruled Out For Week 7 Against Detroit

Baltimore Ravens safety Marcus Williams (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 7 game against the Detroit Lions. Williams injured his hamstring in Week 6 and was a long shot to play this upcoming game due to the fact he didn't log a practice. Injuries have limited the seven-year safety to just three games this season. Cornerback Kevon Seymour (ankle) has also been ruled out for Sunday so the Baltimore secondary is looking a little banged up at the moment, which should be a boost for Detroit pass catchers Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and tight end Sam LaPorta.

Marcus Williams Won't Go On Injured Reserve

Baltimore Ravens defensive back Marcus Williams (pectoral) will not require surgery for his pectoral injury and will not go on Injured Reserve, according to head coach John Harbaugh. This is a good sign for the 27-year-old, who was placed on Injured Reserve in October of last season and did not return until early December. Baltimore's secondary will be in much better shape when Williams and cornerback Marlon Humphrey (foot) return to health. Both players missed the Week 2 win over the Cincinnati Bengals and could be out in Week 3 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Marcus Williams To Miss Time With Pec Injury

Baltimore Ravens safety Marcus Williams (pectoral) injured his pectoral muscle in the Week 1 win over the Houston Texans and is expected to be out for a while, according to head coach John Harbaugh. The injury may not be season-ending, but Williams is considering surgery. The surgery route would keep the 27-year-old out even longer, and it remains to be seen when he'll be able to rejoin Baltimore's secondary. Either way, Williams' injury is a key blow to a thin Ravens secondary early in the 2023 regular season. Expect to see former third-rounder Brandon Stephens step into Williams' starting free-safety role in Week 2 on the road in Cincinnati against the Bengals.

Marcus Williams Designated To Return From IR

The Baltimore Ravens designated safety Marcus Williams (wrist) to return from Injured Reserve on Wednesday, and he returned to practice. The Ravens opened their 21-day window to officially activate Williams from Injured Reserve, and that could come in time for him to play in Week 12 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 26-year-old has been on the shelf since he dislocated his wrist in Week 5, so whenever Williams does return to game action, he could have his playing time limited due to the long layoff. Before the injury, Williams had 33 tackles (26 solo), three interceptions, five passes defensed and a fumble recovery in five games. Once he's back up to speed, he should have a prominent role in Baltimore's secondary.

Marcus Williams To Be Placed On Injured Reserve

Baltimore Ravens safety Marcus Williams (wrist) will be placed on Injured Reserve after dislocating his wrist in the win against the Cincinnati Bengals. His injury won't be season-ending, but it could be significant for fantasy football. The Ravens' secondary has already been among the worst in the NFL, so it could be getting even worse. The Ravens should remain a passing defense to target in fantasy and DFS. On the flipside, Lamar Jackson passing attempts could spike if the Ravens' defense can't keep offenses off the scoreboard.

Marcus Williams To Miss Significant Time

Baltimore Ravens safety Marcus Williams (wrist) is expected to miss a significant amount of time, according to head coach John Harbaugh. He injured his wrist during Sunday's matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. The organization believes that Williams has suffered a dislocated wrist, which is not good news for them. The expectation is that Williams is going to need a long time to recover from this. First-round pick Kyle Hamilton is likely going to be forced to jump into the starting lineup with Williams expected to miss multiple weeks.

Marcus Williams Doubtful To Return Sunday Night

Baltimore Ravens safety Marcus Williams (wrist) suffered a wrist injury in the Sunday night game against the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals and is doubtful to return in the second half. Before leaving, Williams recorded two solo tackles for his fantasy managers. With the 26-year-old unlikely to return to this contest, Kyle Hamilton will be asked to step up in Baltimore's secondary. Coming into the Week 5 game, Williams had racked up 31 tackles (24 solo), three interceptions, five passes defensed and a fumble recovery in four games. He's been in play as a starting defensive back in IDP leagues, but it remains to be seen if he'll be able to play in Week 6.

Marcus Williams Agrees To Five-Year Deal With Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens agreed on a five-year, $70 million deal with free-agent safety Marcus Williams on Tuesday, according to a source. Williams had a career-high 74 tackles (52 solo), two interceptions, eight passes defensed and a forced fumble in 16 regular season games for the New Orleans Saints in 2021 while playing on the franchise tag. He'll be replacing DeShon Elliott as Baltimore's starting free safety in 2022 and beyond. The 25-year-old was a second-round pick of the Saints back in 2017 out of Utah, and he's started at least 14 games in each of his first five NFL seasons. Williams has quietly been one of the more productive safeties in the NFL and will be a huge boost to a Ravens secondary that was decimated by injuries last year.

Marcus Williams Doesn't Expect To Be Franchise Tagged

New Orleans Saints impending free-agent safety Marcus Williams doesn't expect the team to use the franchise tag on him, according to a source. The Saints would prefer to get a long-term deal done with Williams after he played on the franchise tag last year. The 25-year-old played very well on the franchise tag in 2021, recording a career-high 74 tackles (52 solo), two interceptions, eight passes defensed and a forced fumble in 16 games. Williams wasn't much to look at in IDP leagues, but he was a key contributor for New Orleans' secondary, and they'd like to bring him back. The only problem is that the Saints have one of the worst salary cap situations in the NFL, so he might be too expensive to retain after a solid season.

Marcus Williams Could Get The Tag For Second Straight Year

New Orleans Saints free safety Marcus Williams is a candidate to receive the franchise tag for the second straight season with the Saints in rough salary cap shape in 2022. Williams played well on the tag in 2021 and is an important part of the team's secondary. Left tackle Terron Armstead is not a candidate for the tag because his contract makes him ineligible for it since he doesn't become a free agent until after the end of the 2021 league year on March 16. The 25-year-old Williams registered 74 tackles, eight passes defensed, two interceptions and one forced fumble in 16 games last year. He's not much of a fantasy name in IDP leagues, but Williams has become one of the better free safeties in the NFL.
