Marvin Jones Jr. News
Former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. is expected to sign a one-year, $3 million deal worth up to $5 million with the Detroit Lions, according to a source. Jones spent the last two years with the Jaguars, but before that he played in Detroit from 2016-20. In 16 regular season games (10 starts) for Jacksonville in 2022, he caught 46 of his 81 targets for 529 yards and three touchdowns, numbers that all represented his lowest marks since his rookie season in 2012 with the Cincinnati Bengals. The 33-year-old had his only 1,000-yard season with Detroit in 2017, but fantasy managers should probably expect numbers more in line with his 2022 campaign in 2023. Jones figures to see infrequent work in Detroit this time around behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and second-year wideout Jameson Williams.
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. caught only one of his three targets for 21 yards in Saturday's 27-20 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs. The experienced wideout has been an inconsistent option all season with him being behind Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, and Evan Engram in terms of Trevor Lawrence's go-to options in the passing game. After combining for four receptions, 50 yards, and a touchdown in this year's playoffs, Jones' future with the Jaguars is unknown as he is set to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. is a risky option in Saturday's Divisional Round bout against the Kansas City Chiefs. The veteran wideout caught three passes for 29 yards and a touchdown in last week's victory versus the Los Angeles Chargers. It's been tough to trust the former fifth-round pick every week this season, but he has recorded four-plus targets in five straight games. While Jones is certainly a risky play this weekend, he's a decent GPP option for those in DFS that want to get a bit different from the field.
