Marvin Jones Jr. News
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. is a dicey WR4 play against the Patriots in Week 17. On one hand, Jones has gone over 70 receiving yards with six or more catches in two of his last three games, but on the other hand, his matchup is a near worst-case scenario and he hasn't caught a touchdown pass since Week 6. Notably, New England has allowed the NFL's fourth-fewest PPR points to opposing wideouts this season, and Bill Belichick is known for taking away the opponent's No. 1 receiver. Overall, Jones is a decent Week 17 play, but his volatility and lack of ceiling keep him in the WR4 range against a tough matchup.
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. caught eight of 13 targets for 74 yards in the team's 26-21 Week 16 road loss to the Jets. In a prime matchup with teammate Laviska Shenault Jr. (Covid list) out, it was unsurprising but welcome to see the veteran dominate targets in a trailing game script while setting a season high in receptions. Shenault's status is up in the air going forward, but either way, fantasy managers should be cautiously valuing Jones as just a middling WR4 the rest of the way due to his difficult remaining schedule.
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. is a solid WR4 option on the road against the Jets in Week 16. Jones has been up and down as of late and his ceiling has been disappointing, but there are reasons to believe that he can succeed this week. The veteran faces off against a Jets team that has held opposing wideouts to the seventh-fewest PPR points in 2021, but that ranking is very misleading due to a soft schedule against the position and a severe lack of passing attempts against them. Additionally, Jones' already strong target projection looks even stronger with Laviska Shenault Jr. (Covid list) likely to miss Week 16's game. Bottom line, fantasy managers looking for a solid but unspectacular wide receiver option should feel comfortable starting Jones this week.
