The Chicago Bears released veteran offensive guard Nate Davis on Wednesday after signing him to a three-year, $30 million free-agent contract in 2023. Davis was a late scratch for the team's Week 10 loss to the New England Patriots last Sunday due to a back injury and will now hit the open market. It's yet another move that the Bears have made on offense heading into their Week 11 tilt against the division-rival Green Bay Packers after firing offensive coordinator Shane Waldron earlier this week. The 28-year-old Davis started only 13 games for the Bears after signing with them last offseason. Davis is now subject to waivers, and any team that claims him will be responsible for paying the remaining $3.9 million that he's due in fully guaranteed salary. More than half of Davis' $30 million is guaranteed. Davis started the first two games this year before being benched for Matt Pryor.
The Chicago Bears signed former Tennessee Titans offensive guard Nate Davis to a three-year deal worth $30 million on Monday, according to a source. The deal will guarantee Davis $19.25 million. Securing a strong run-blocking offensive guard was a big priority for the Bears in free agency, and they now have their man. The 26-year-old Davis only played in 12 games for the Titans in 2022 due to an ankle injury, but the former third-round pick has started 54 games for Tennessee in his four years with the team. Davis should be expected to start at right guard for the Bears in 2023 and beyond.
