The New York Jets re-signed tight end Neal Sterling and outside linebacker Brandon Copeland to undisclosed deals on Monday. Sterling has been with the Jets the last two seasons but has primarily been a backup on offense while also playing special teams. He had six catches for 47 yards in five games last year but had his season cut short by a concussion in November. Unless an injury occurs, Sterling won't be fantasy relevant in 2019.
New York Jets wide receiver Terrelle Pryor and tight end Neal Sterling were both limited in practice on Wednesday. Both are on track to play in Week 6 against the Colts, but neither have significant roles in the offense. Pryor has just nine catches on 16 targets for 178 yards in five contests. He caught his lone target last Sunday for a 20-yard touchdown. Sterling has only three catches for 27 yards in two games.
New York Jets tight end Neal Sterling (concussion) is inactive in Week 3 against the Browns on Thursday. Sterling caught three passes on three targets in the season opener but didn't have a single target in Week 2 and can be avoided in fantasy leagues. The Jets tight end situation won't yield much in terms of fantasy production all year.
New York Mets tight end Neal Sterling (concussion) did not practice on Monday. Sterling didn't have a catch in the Week 2 loss to the Dolphins and has three catches for 27 yards on the season. On a short week, Sterling may be unlikely to play against the Browns this Thursday. New York's tight end situation may be the worst in football and should be avoided altogether by fantasy owners.
New York Jets tight end Neal Sterling (head) is being evaluated for a concussion in Week 2 against the Dolphins. Sterling didn't have any catches in the game before leaving. He's not much of a fantasy option with the Jets rotating Eric Tomlinson and rookie Chris Herndon IV in at the position.
The New York Jets re-signed restricted free-agent tight end Neal Sterling to a one-year deal on Monday. Sterling is mainly a special teams asset and led the team with 26 special teams tackles. On the offensive side, he had just six catches for 82 yards in 11 games last season and made just one start. With Jordan Leggett and Clive Walford listed atop the tight end depth chart right now, Sterling has a chance to carve out a role, but no fantasy owners should have him on their radar to open the season.
New York Jets wide receiver Neal Sterling somehow, someway had himself a nice day in Week 17s loss to the New England Patriots. Who is Neal Sterling, you ask? Were wondering the same thing. Regardless of whether or not you knew who he was prior to Sunday, Sterling led the Jets in targets (eight), yards (74) and tied for the team lead in catches (five) in Gang Green's final game of the 2017 season. To put this into perspective, Sterling last made a catch in Week2 when he hauled in one pass for eight yards. Considering Sterling is a third-year wide receiver who has never done anything of note until Sunday -- he has a total of 18 catches for 194 yards and no scores -- chances are very good this is the last time hell be worth a news blurb in his career. Sterling isnt a consideration, even in deep dynasty leagues, despite the fantastic final-game finish.
