The Kansas City Chiefs acquired tight end Randall Telfer from the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday in exchange for linebacker Dadi Nicolas, according to sources. Telfer was drafted in the sixth round in 2015 and has just five catches in three seasons. He's more of a blocking tight end and will have zero fantasy value as depth in KC.
The Cleveland Browns released their first depth chart of the preseason on Monday. One mild surprise was Randall Telfer being listed as the team's No. 1 tight end over rookie David Njoku and second-year man Seth DeValve. Head coach Hue Jackson told reporters that he likes Telfer's blocking. Telfer is entering his second year after playing in 14 games as a rookie, starting five. He caught two passes for four yards on just seven targets in 2016. Telfer has never been much of a pass-catching threat, dating back to his college days at USC, meaning there's still room for Njoku and DeValve to make a difference in the passing game this year.
