Rushing for 87 yards on 15 carries this past Monday night, Rashad Jennings recorded his best game of the season to date. The Giants have struggled mightily in the running game, and Jennings' performance felt like a revitalization of that aspect of the offense. This week, his task is the Chicago Bears, who allow less than 100 rushing yards per game. While that seems like a tough task for Jennings, he doesn't need to record that amount of yardage to be successful today. A performance similar to last week's will do his team well, although it won't do much for his fantasy owners. If the 31-year-old can have another successful game this week, he should be all systems go next week when the Giants visit the winless Cleveland Browns.
Rashad Jennings Limited by Andre Williams' Goal Line Touches
Rashad Jennings posted a career high in rushing attempts and rushing yards in 2015 as he ran for 863 yards on 195 carries. Managing to play in all 16 games for the Giants, this production did not match the expectations. Andre Williams saw a sharp drop in his role, going from 217 rushes in 2014 to just 88 last season. The health of Jennings cut into Williams' overall workload, but that did not prevent him from finding work in the red zone. The big 230-pound back saw nearly ten percent of his carries come inside the opponent's ten yard line. Jennings saw just two more goal line carries than Williams despite being the feature back, and those carries may disappear if Williams returns to his 2014 form early in the season. Lacking guaranteed goal line carries, Jennings becomes a major question mark in a lackluster backfield.
