Riley Reiff News
Former Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Riley Reiff agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $12.5 million with the Chicago Bears on Tuesday, according to a source. Reiff is likely to earn at least $10 million. The 33-year-old veteran played in 12 games for the Bengals in 2021 but suffered an ankle injury in Week 14 and wasn't available for the team's run to the Super Bowl. When healthy, he'll give the Bears some offensive line depth for the 2022 season. Reiff was originally a first-round pick in 2012 by the Detroit Lions out of the University of Iowa. He spent his first five years in the NFL in Detroit before heading to the Minnesota Vikings from 2017-20.
Free-agent offensive tackle Riley Reiff, the former Detroit Lions first-rounder in 2013 who spent last year with the Cincinnati Bengals, is visiting with the New York Jets on Thursday, according to a source. COVID-19 and an ankle injury limited Reiff to a career-low 12 games in 2021 with the Bengals, but he's been pretty durable in his 10-year NFL career. He spent the first five seasons playing for the Lions before joining the Minnesota Vikings from 2017-20. The 33-year-old has been a solid run-blocker in his career and would give the Jets some valuable depth on the offensive line should he sign with them.
The Cincinnati Bengals placed right tackle Riley Reiff (ankle) on Injured Reserve and cornerback Chidobe Awuzie on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday. Reiff, who was already doubtful to play in Week 15 against the Denver Broncos, will now miss at least the next three games. Awuzie is unlikely to play this Sunday, even if he's fully vaccinated. Reiff has been key on the right side of Cincy's offensive line, so his absence over the next three weeks is bad news for quarterback Joe Burrow. If Trae Waynes (hamstring) is unable to return from IR to play this weekend, the Bengals secondary will be extra vulnerable against the Broncos. Either way, Vernon Hargreaves should have a big role in Week 15.
