Chicago Bears wide receiver Riley Ridley has been waived by the Bears. The former fourth-round pick failed to make a lasting impression during training camp and the Bears are moving on. Ridley, Calvin's brother, has only 10 career receptions in two NFL seasons and will have to look to hook on with another team to further his NFL career. General Manager Ryan Pace has now drafted seven receivers during his tenure with the Bears. Current receiver Darnell Mooney is the only wideout he has not subsequently cut from the team.
Chicago Bears wide receiver Riley Ridley may need to produce against the Titans this weekend if he wants to make the final roster. Ridley has seen plenty of playing time during the preseason but has failed to make a substantial impression on offense. Rookie wide receiver Dazz Newsome is expected to make the team and contribute on punt returns and Rodney Adams has surprised many to leap frog players like Ridley and Javon Wims with a highly productive training camp and preseason. Ridley may find himself on the bubble and will have one more chance this weekend to prove he belongs on the Week 1 roster.
Chicago Bears wide receiver Riley Ridley caught one pass for 12 yards in the team's preseason loss to the Bills. Ridley is vying for one of the final spots on the Bears wide receiver depth chart and ran some solid routes in this game. His lone catch was a nice grab and ran a strong route downfield but couldn't connect with a beautiful pass from rookie Justin Fields. Ridley will have one more preseason game to show what he can do but could be the victim of a numbers game with training camp surprise Rodney Adams enjoying an excellent camp.
Ted Ginn Jr., Riley Ridley Healthy Week 2 Scratches
Chicago Bears wide receivers Ted Ginn Jr. and Riley Ridley are healthy scratches in Week 2. The big news here is Ginn, as he played 43 percent of the team's Week 1 snaps. Ginn wasn't a factor in that game and Bears should turn to Anthony Miller more in this one, whose snap rate should take a huge leap. Miller's an interesting option now, while Ginn can be dropped in redraft leagues this week unless some news emerges to suggest he was injured, because being a healthy scratch on this offense is really, really bad news.
Chicago Bears wide receiver Riley Ridley is a healthy inactive for the team's Week 1 game against the Detroit Lions. Ridley was a fourth round pick of the team in 2019 and had a disappointing rookie year with just six catches for 69 yards. Rookie fifth rounder Darnell Mooney and third year receiver Javon Wims have an opportunity to capitalize on Ridley's absence, though the team's top two receivers, Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller, are the only two receivers worth owning and starting in fantasy for now.
Chicago Bears wide receiver Riley Ridley has plenty to prove after a non-descript rookie season in 2019. But receivers coach Mike Furrey has high hopes for the second-year wideout, telling reporters, "I think the biggest growth were going to see with anybody in our room is going to be Ridley." Ridley, whose brother Calvin plays for the Falcons, did not see the field until Thanksgiving of last year and caught only six passes for 69 yards in five games on the active roster. But the young receiver has an NFL frame and his route-running was touted coming out of college. The transition to the NFL was steep for Ridley last season but the Bears coaching staff is banking on the second-year receiver making some noise in 2020.
Chicago Bears wide receiver Riley Ridley caught three passes for 54 yards in the Bears 21-19 victory over the Vikings in Week 17. The rookie has barely seen the field this season but saw a season-high amount of snaps in this regular season finale. Ridley displayed a crisp ability in his routes but clearly needs to add some muscle in the offseason. The entire Bears offense needs to do some soul searching in the offseason but Ridley will be expected to take a step forward and contribute next year.
Chicago Bears wide receiver Riley Ridley's professional debut was a success in the Bears second preseason game, catching three passes for 19 yards. But the rookie made positive plays on the field that don't show up in the stat sheet, leading Bears receivers in blocking efficiency during his 28 snaps played. Ridley looked smooth out of his breaks, a step in the right direction after the talented receiver hurt his hamstring early in camp. Rookie pass-catchers often struggle to make an impact right out of the gate so Ridley's value, at this time, is tied solely to dynasty and keeper leagues for the 2019 fantasy season.
Chicago Bears wide receiver Riley Ridley made his professional debut Friday against the Giants, catching three passes for 19 yards. Riley didn't play a ton of snaps but the fact he was out there on the field is a step in the right direction. The rookie's training camp got off on the wrong foot after a hamstring injury occurred early in camp. The fourth-round pick will need to make strides in the final two preseason games or could struggle to see the field early in the regular season.
Chicago Bears wide receiver Riley Ridley is expected to make his Bears debut Friday against the Giants in their second preseason game. The rookie out of Georgia has been sidelined in training camp with a hamstring injury but is expected to suit up for the first time. Out of college, Ridley has been lauded for his route-running and competitiveness. Injuries always put players behind in training camp and for rookies it is even more detrimental. Ridley has a chance Friday to flash the type of talent that made him a fourth-round selection.
