Giants Waive Sam Beal Tuesday
The New York Giants waived rookie defensive back Sam Beal on Tuesday. Beal played just one defensive snap in the Week 9 win over the Las Vegas Raiders and played in just nine games over four seasons with the team after he was taken in the third round of the 2018 supplemental draft out of Western Michigan. The 25-year-old has recorded 27 tackles (21 solo) and one pass defensed in nine career games (three starts) over just two seasons for the G-Men. Beal's career has so far been marked by a few long-term injuries, a COVID-19 opt-out in 2020 and an arrest on two gun charges. Of the team's seven players drafted in 2018, only second-round right guard Will Hernandez is contributing to the team right now.
