Pittsburgh Steelers free-agent safety Sean Davis is visiting the Buffalo Bills on Friday, according to a source. The 27-year-old began his career with the Steelers as a second-round pick in 2016. He played starting snaps on defense in his first three years in the league until a shoulder injury ended his season after only one game in 2019. Davis briefly signed with the Washington Football Team but was cut prior to the 2020 season and re-signed in Pittsburgh. He played only on special teams last season. Buffalo's starting spots in the secondary are locked up by Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer, but Davis could provide some depth at the position while also contributing in a special teams role.
The Washington Football Team released former starting safety Sean Davis in a surprise move on Saturday, according to a source. Washington gave a $2 million signing bonus to Davis this offseason. The 26-year-old was a second-round pick by the Steelers in 2016 and was productive in his three full years in Pittsburgh, recording 185 solo tackles, 11 tackles for loss, seven QB hits, five interceptions and 2.5 sacks in 47 games (40 starts). He played in just one game in 2019 because of a shoulder injury that required surgery. If Davis proves he's healthy, he should latch on with another team, at least as safety depth.
