The Jacksonville Jaguars waived last year's fifth-round pick, running back Snoop Conner, on Tuesday in order to trim their roster down to 53 players. Jacksonville will open up the 2023 regular season with Travis Etienne Jr. atop their RB depth chart, followed by impressive rookie Tank Bigsby, JaMycal Hasty and D'Ernest Johnson. In his first NFL season in 2022, Conner carried the ball just 12 times for 42 yards and one touchdown in eight games (zero starts) for the Jaguars. If the 23-year-old isn't scooped up off waivers by another organization, there's a good chance he'll return to the team's practice squad to open up the year.
Snoop Conner Receives Nice Workload Against Cowboys
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Snoop Conner saw a total of nine opportunities in the team's first preseason game, second to rookie Tank Bigsby. The nine touches only turned into 37 yards, including an abysmal 2.1 YPC. Still, it's worth noting that Conner out touched 2023 free agent acquisition D'Ernest Johnson, raising some eyebrows about how this backfield situation plays out behind Travis Etienne. The 2022 fifth-round pick has quite the uphill battle to climb if he wants to give Bigsby and Johnson a run for their money. It's clear the Jacksonville coaching staff likes his ability based on the work he received. That's still not enough to consider Conner for fantasy drafts, even in the deepest of leagues.
Snoop Conner Quiet With Heavy Workload In Preseason Loss
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Snoop Conner carried the ball 11 times for only 15 rushing yards in Saturday's preseason defeat to the Atlanta Falcons. Besides being unable to find any rushing lanes, Conner finished Jacksonville's preseason finale with two receptions for negative three yards in the passing game. The rookie fifth-round pick is expected to enter the upcoming season as the No. 3 running back on the Jaguars behind James Robinson and Travis Etienne Jr. The Ole Miss product concluded his first preseason with a mere 65 rushing yards on 25 attempts. Even with a forgettable preseason, Conner could be a running back to keep an eye on in fantasy football with Robinson and Etienne returning from injuries this season.
