The Arizona Cardinals are expected to sign free-agent linebacker Terrell Suggs (Ravens), according to a source. The terms of the deal are not yet known. Suggs starred at Arizona State from 2000-02 before being drafted by the Baltimore Ravens with the 10th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. His addition will bolster a Cardinals pass rush in need of help, and give them a decent run stopper, too. Arizona ranked dead-last in the NFL against the run, allowing 154.9 yards per game with 25 rushing touchdowns allowed in 16 games. They also gave up 21 runs of 20 or more yards. The Cards DST is still a risky fantasy play in 2019, but they could be adding a big piece with the No. 1 overall pick, too.
Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs (hamstring) and cornerback Tavon Young (groin) were among three players that did not practice on Wednesday as the team prepares to play a critical Week 17 game against the Browns. Suggs, who has said that he has no plans of retiring after this season, needs to play one more game to surpass Ray Lewis as the all-time leader in games played in Ravens history. The 36-year-old is not only the team's emotional leader, but he is still very productive as he has registered seven sacks as well as team-high 13 tackles for losses. Meanwhile, Young has had a quality season as the team's third cornerback. It will unquestionably hurt the league's No. 1 defense if either/or both players must miss the game. However, the Ravens have enough depth to compensate for the possible losses. John Brown (hamstring) is the other player that did not participate in practice.
Baltimore Ravens defensive star Terrell Suggs has played 15 seasons and hopes to play a few more. Despite the wear and tear of 15 seasons, he still led the team with 11 sacks. Until he shows some real decline, it is reasonable to guess that Suggs can continue playing at a high level. The outlook for the Ravens defense in 2018 is likely to be favorable, but they could take a step backward if Suggs does retire after the retirement of coordinator Dean Pees.
Baltimore Ravens Defense Welcomes Back Terrell Suggs
The Ravens defense held the Lions to only three field goals in a preseason game that saw pass rusher Terrell Suggs return to action for the defense. The Lions were only 4-14 on third downs and defensive lineman Timmy Jernigan also recorded a sack in the preseason win. On a night where the offense suffered several impactful injuries, the defense played a solid game. Keep in mind, however, that during one stretch last season the Ravens defense put up a total of 14 fantasy points in five games. This still isn't a unit worth investing in right now.
