Wes Hills Scores Touchdown, Makes Bid For Roster Spot
Arizona Cardinals running back Wes Hills ran eight times for a team-high 37 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers. The undrafted rookie out of Slippery Rock was all smiles after the debut. "I'm holding this ball all the way to the hotel," Hills said. "S--t, I might hold it if I go get food tonight. It doesn't get any better than this." Hills staked his claim for a spot on the 53-man roster behind starter David Johnson and Chase Edmonds. His biggest competition will be T.J. Logan, Dontae Strickland and D.J. Foster. Logan ran five times for 20 yards, while Strickland was bottled up for nine yards on two totes, and Foster went backward for minus-1 yard on two carries. Whomever wins the No. 3 job still has minimal fantasy appeal, but Hills is a tremendous story if he can win the job.
