Andrew Cogliano Retires From Playing, Joins Avalanche's Front Office

Colorado Avalanche center Andrew Cogliano has announced his retirement from the NHL. He has called it a day after spending 17 seasons in the league. Cogliano, who turned 37 a week ago, suited up for 1,294 regular-season contests, posting 190 goals and 464 points. The veteran forward had 19 points (six goals, 13 assists) in 75 outings with the Colorado Avalanche this season. He also played in Edmonton, Anaheim, Dallas, and San Jose. Cogliano, who won the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2022, will stay involved with the franchise by taking up a front-office role.

Andrew Cogliano Returns To Avalanche Lineup

Colorado Avalanche center Andrew Cogliano (illness) will rejoin the lineup for Saturday's tilt against Toronto. He has shaken off an illness, which forced Cogliano to skip Thursday's encounter with Detroit. The 36-year-old veteran has provided quality minutes in a fourth-line role for Colorado, logging 15 points (four goals, 11 assists) in 51 games with a plus-seven rating. Kurtis MacDermid filled in for Cogliano versus the Red Wings and will likely make way for him on Saturday night.

Andrew Cogliano Back In Avalanche Lineup Saturday

Colorado Avalanche center Andrew Cogliano (undisclosed) will rejoin the lineup Saturday versus Arizona. The veteran returns from a two-game absence. Cogliano provides experience and grit to the Avalanche lineup but has very little value in fantasy hockey. The 36-year-old has amassed only nine points (three goals, six assists) in 27 appearances this season. He will bump Ben Meyers out of the lineup and skate in a bottom-six role.

Andrew Cogliano Could Return For Avalanche Wednesday

Colorado Avalanche center Andrew Cogliano (upper body) has a chance to return to the lineup Wednesday versus Anaheim. He took part in the morning skate and could be back after sitting out two contests. Cogliano has totaled three points this season in 11 games with no goals scored, averaging around 10 minutes of action per game as a fourth-liner. He doesn't impact anything in fantasy hockey, but the Avalanche will be glad to have another healthy body available up front after recently losing Artturi Lehkonen (upper body).

Andrew Cogliano Ready For Season Debut

Colorado Avalanche center Andrew Cogliano (neck) will make his first appearance of the season Saturday versus San Jose. The veteran forward fractured his neck in last season's playoffs and was kept out of action when the Avalanche opened the new campaign with a 5-2 victory over Los Angeles on Wednesday. Cogliano offers very little to fantasy managers, but he's been a good fourth-line center for Colorado and definitely adds a bit more extra quality to the lineup. He finished last season with 10 goals and 19 points in 79 outings.

Andrew Cogliano Hoping To Be Cleared For Season Opener

Colorado Avalanche forward Andrew Cogliano (neck) is hoping to be cleared to participate in his team's season opener on Oct. 11 versus the Los Angeles Kings. The veteran suffered multiple fractures in his neck during the first round of the 2023 playoffs but ultimately did not require surgery. The 36-year-old credits not wearing a neck brace for his recovery, stating "I think if you wear a brace, your neck muscles don't respond well". A veteran of 1,219 regular-season games and another 120 postseason contests, Cogliano notched 10 goals and 19 points across 79 games with the Avalanche last season while averaging 12:37 of ice time per game.

Andrew Cogliano Out Indefinitely With Neck injury

Colorado Avalanche left wing Andrew Cogliano has been ruled out indefinitely after fracturing his neck in Friday's Game 6 against Seattle. He suffered the injury on a hit by Kraken forward Jordan Eberle, who was called for boarding in the game but escaped further punishment. Incredibly, Cogliano was able to return to the game after the incident and finished with 11:01 of ice time. The gritty winger has gone scoreless in the 2023 playoffs, but his absence will rob Colorado of another forward, with Gabriel Landeskog (knee) and Valeri Nichushkin (personal) already unavailable.

Andrew Cogliano Exits With Injury

Colorado Avalanche left wing Andrew Cogliano couldn't last until the end in Monday's clash with the Islanders, leaving in the third period with an apparent right shoulder issue. With a little over six minutes remaining in regulation, he fell into the boards and skated to the bench holding his right shoulder. Head coach Jared Bednar didn't have any updates on the injury after the game, saying that the veteran was still under evaluation. Cogliano has tallied four goals and three assists in 30 appearances. It's not much, but every body currently counts for Colorado due to a long list of injuries. The team will be desperate to get some positive news ahead of Wednesday's meeting with Montreal.

Andrew Cogliano Signs One-Year Deal With Avalanche

Colorado Avalanche veteran winger Andrew Cogliano will be returning to Denver to take another run for the Stanley Cup. The speedy tight-checking forward signed a one-year deal at an undisclosed amount Tuesday. Cogliano plays a critical role with the Avalanche. His veteran leadership helps Colorado be successful. However, regarding fantasy hockey, the former Anaheim Ducks player is a non-factor scoring only four goals and 12 assists in 74 Avalanche regular-season games this past season.

Andrew Cogliano Unavailable Thursday

Colorado Avalanche left wing Andrew Cogliano (upper body) won't be able to suit up for the team Thursday against Nashville. He left Tuesday's Game 1 victory over the Predators in the third period with an upper-body injury and isn't feeling good enough to play, although the veteran winger took part in the morning skate. The team hasn't yet announced who will take Cogliano's spot in the lineup. The 34-year-old, who managed to tally a short-handed goal before leaving on Tuesday, is considered day-to-day.

Devon Toews, Andrew Cogliano Out On Monday

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews and forward Andrew Cogliano will both miss Monday's contest against Washington with undisclosed injuries. Head coach Jared Bednar hinted on Sunday that Toews is set to miss some time with a nagging injury and he'll indeed sit out Monday's game. Additionally, Toews won't join the team when Colorado heads on a three-game road trip later in the week. Jack Johnson is set to replace Toews on the first defensive pairing Monday, while Kurtis MacDermid will get drafted into the lineup. Darren Helm will fill in for Cogliano on the fourth line.
